The Los Angeles Dodgers strike again. The back-to-back World Series Champions strike again, and likely end up winning the offseason after the announcement by ESPN’s Jeff Passan that Los Angeles is in agreement with star free agent Kyle Tucker on a contract.
Jesse Rogers also reports it’s a four-year, $240 million deal, with an opt-out after the second and third year included in the contract. They signed Edwin Diaz to a free agent deal worth $69 million earlier this offseason, but have made minimal moves since. The Dodgers were thought to need a left fielder, and they went out and acquired what everyone believes is the top outfielder (and overall player) in this class.

Dodgers Land Kyle Tucker in Massive Offseason Move
The cries across MLB will be loud after this deal about the Dodgers and their spending, but the unlucky other suitors, like the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets, will also be kicking themselves for not being able to outbid the all-mighty Dodgers.
The Mets had been firmly in the running, especially after Steve Cohen’s cryptic tweet. Many thought New York was the frontrunner, but turns out it’s the Dodgers who swoop in and make the biggest dent this hot stove season. Los Angeles has eight MLB contracts worth over $100 million.
Los Angeles is really on a crazy stretch of signing MLB’s top free agents. It started with Shohei Ohtani, and many other top-name free agents during their signing period have decided to take their talents to Chavez Ravine.

Kyle Tucker hit 22 home runs in 2025 with the Chicago Cubs and is a four-time All-Star, 2X Silver Slugger award winner, and World Series winner with the Houston Astros.
He has 147 home runs, a career .273 average, and a career OPS+ of 139. He’s already received MVP votes in his career and now joins a Dodgers lineup that features the likes of Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez.

The Dodgers Must Be Considered World Series Favorite Again
After this massive signing, the Dodgers will be considered the favorite and frontrunner to win the Fall Classic once again in 2026.
And with an important Collective Bargaining Agreement set for after 2026, baseball’s chances in 2027 may take a big hit after this signing.
$240 million is just a massive deal for Tucker, and with the AAV being around $60 million, or maybe a little bit less with deferrals and signing bonuses, this is tough news for the rest of MLB, who will have a hard time keeping up.
