The New York Mets lost again on Saturday afternoon, which marked the team’s 10th consecutive loss. They have not won since April 7.
The Mets are 7-14, which is good for the worst record in Major League Baseball. It’s the longest losing streak for the Mets since 2004, and one of the worst in their franchise’s history.
Jeff Passan put on X after the game: “Four teams in MLB history have lost 10 or more games in a row and made the playoffs. The last was the Guardians in 2025. Only one of those teams had a skid in April and still made the postseason: the 1951 Giants, who lost 11 consecutive..
The New York Mets have lost 10 straight.”
Just another really poor offensive effort again on Saturday. The Mets have scored just 18 runs in their last 10 games.

New York should return Juan Soto to the lineup next week, but at this point, I’m not sure that matters all that much. He will provide the team with a much-needed offensive boost, but in such a competitive league, the road will be very tough, as Jeff Passan points out,
The Mets’ social media landscape is currently on fire, and here are some of the best reactions:
@BNightengale: The New York Mets’ Horror Show continues. They lose their 10th in a row, 4-2, to the Chicago Cubs. It’s now their longest losing streak since 2004. They have been outscored 60-18 in this streak. They have the worst record in baseball, 7-14.
@LockedOnMets:After losing their 10th game in a row, the Mets are 7-14 (.333 win%) If they keep at this pace they will end the season with a 54-108 record. Second worst in franchise history. They have a $371M payroll (Including luxury tax).
“A $371 million payroll”, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are still ruining baseball. Carlos Mendoza is also in serious jeopardy of losing his job.
@Rosab315: Ron Darling said it’s a struggle to call the Mets games. That’s how bad Stearns trash team is. Oh and news flash no one is buying a Polanco, Bichette, Robert jersey. The detachment is real. Stearns set this franchise back and cost you time and money
^^ I think that comment might be the one that really sums up the horrific start to the campaign.
