On Sunday, the New York Mets will finish up their series with the Los Angeles Angels (in California).

The Mets and Angels are tied up at 1-1, so whoever wins on Sunday will take the series.

UPDATE: The Mets won Sunday’s game 5-1.

Mets Announce Sudden Roster Move

Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Mets announced a series of roster moves.

One of those moves involved Eric Wagaman.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote: “Roster move: the Mets have called up infielder Vidal Bruján to replace Ronny Mauricio (broken left thumb) on the roster. Eric Wagaman designated for assignment.”

Wagaman had recently been acquired off waivers (via the Minnesota Twins).

The 28-year-old has spent part of two seasons in the MLB with the Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins.

He finished last year batting .250 with nine home runs, 53 RBI’s, 56 runs and four stolen bases in 140 games (for Miami).

It will be interesting to see if another team claims Wagaman.

If not, he could end up back in Triple-A for the Mets (or simply become a free agent).

Looking At Vidal Bruján

Bruján (who got called up) is coming off a year where he appeared in 60 games for the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles.

He has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins over five seasons.

Over 261 career games, the 28-year-old is batting .199 with five home runs, 48 RBI’s, 76 runs and 16 stolen bases.

Mets Right Now

The Mets have had a very tough start to the 2026 season (despite having a high-profile roster).

They are at the bottom of their division with an 11-22 record in 33 games.

On the road, the Mets have gone 5-10 in the 15 games they have played away from Citi Field.

Following the Angels, they will start a series with the Colorado Rockies on Monday night in Denver.
