Eric Wagaman: Breaking News

DFA'd by Minnesota

The Twins designated Wagaman for assignment Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Christian Roa. Wagaman came up short in his bid for an Opening Day roster spot for the Twins and has hit only .159/.284/.254 early on at Triple-A St. Paul.

Fails to make Opening Day roster

The Twins optioned Wagaman to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Wagaman slashed .256/.341/.333 with one home run and a 5:13 BB:K this spring for the Twins. With Ryan Kreidler also sent to St. Paul, Tristan Gray appears to have captured the final spot on the Twins' bench.

Traded to Minnesota

The Twins acquired Wagaman from the Marlins on Friday in exchange for Kade Bragg. Wagaman had been designated for assignment earlier this week and is now on the move to a new club. The 28-year-old slashed .250/.296/.378 with nine home runs across 140 games for the Marlins this season and is capable of handling the corner infield and outfield spots. The right-handed-hitting Wagaman sported a .283/.321/.462 batting line against lefties in 2025, so much of his playing time in Minnesota could come versus southpaws.
