Eric Wagaman: Breaking News

Wagaman went 1-for-2 with a solo shot in Wednesday's win over the Reds. Wagaman made the most out of his first start with the Mets, launching a home run to left against Andrew Abbott in the second inning. The 28-year-old was recently called up after hitting the ball well in Triple-A to bat against left-handed pitchers. Today, he had two plate appearances against Abbott before getting pulled in the seventh.

The Mets selected Wagaman's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Wagaman has swung a hot bat lately at Syracuse, going 13-for-27 with two home runs over his last eight games. The 28-year-old is likely to see some starts against left-handed pitching.

The Mets outrighted Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. Wagaman was designated for assignment by the Mets last weekend and will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old has played in 20 Triple-A games between the Mets and Twins organizations this season and has a combined .191/.317/.294 slash line.
