Injury News On Weathers
Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Yankees announced an injury update on Ryan Weathers.
The Yankees wrote (via X): “Prior to today’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Returned INF/OF Cody Bellinger (#35) from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list. • Recalled RHP Brendan Beck (#89) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. • Placed LHP Ryan Weathers on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm flexor strain.”
Weathers is in the middle of a solid year.
He has gone 5-8 with a 3.60 ERA in 25 starts.
World Series Champ Yankees Should Sign
One person the Yankees should consider signing is Lance McCullers Jr.
McCullers Jr. is currently a free agent after getting released by the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this season.
MLB.com wrote (on July 26): “Milwaukee Brewers released RHP Lance McCullers Jr.”
McCullers Jr. only appeared in two games for the Brewers.
The two-time World Series Champion had spent the first 8.5 seasons of his career pitching for the Houston Astros.
He made the 2017 MLB All-Star Game.
While McCullers Jr. is far from his prime, he has a lot of experience (and would be a low-risk option).
Over 156 career games, the 32-year-old has gone 53-40 with a 3.85 ERA.
Looking At New York
The Yankees have been dealt a lot of injuries during the 2026 season.
That said, they are still among the elite teams in the MLB.
Right now, the Yankees are the second-place team in the American League East with a 73-56 record in 129 games.
