The New York Yankees have not allowed a run yet in 2026. Two games played, two shutouts recorded, and a pitching staff that has looked untouchable from the first inning of the season. Friday afternoon at Oracle Park brought more of the same.
Cam Schlittler took the ball against the San Francisco Giants and was dominant throughout, with relievers finishing the job behind him as New York took a 3-0 win to clinch the series. What this pitching staff has done to open the year has made Yankees history. Back to back shutouts.
Judge’s Message After Yankees Win
With a runner in scoring position, Aaron Judge drove it deep for a two-run shot. First home run of the year. The moment the Yankees had been waiting for.
Giancarlo Stanton followed with a homer of his own, and just like that, New York had a three-run cushion and a comfortable path to the finish line.
After the game, Judge turned his attention to Schlittler.
“Just right where he left off last year,” Judge said. “It’s impressive. He’s got the 100 mph fastball, but the feel for the offspeed and filling up the zone, especially with the defense we have, it’s going to be big-time for him.”
The words carried weight. Schlittler had turned heads with a stunning postseason outing against the Red Sox last October, and he backed that up impressively on Friday.
Eight strikeouts. Zero runs. San Francisco’s offense had virtually nothing to celebrate all afternoon.

Schlittler Still Ramping Up
Schlittler had a pitch count of 70. He hadn’t been fully built up after some tightness in his back during camp, but the limitation barely registered given what he produced before it.
“Nothing I can do about it, it’s out of my control,” Schlittler said. “Keep building from this week to next week and then hopefully get up to 90 pitches in a couple starts.”
He also spoke with clear excitement about what Will Warren could bring to Saturday’s potential series sweep for the Yankees, reflecting a rotation that believes deeply in what it has across the board.
Judge on the ABS System
Judge spoke after the game on the new ABS challenge system, which played a role in the Yankees win.
He had a successful challenge before launching his two-run homer, turning a called strike back into a ball to work a better count. He was measured about how he plans to use it going forward.
“I’m a hitter and I have to focus on hitting,” Judge said. “I’m not going to challenge every one I think is close. A big spot where I think I have a chance to flip the count, I’ll do it. But I still have to go out and do my job as a hitter.”

Final Word for the Yankees
Cam Schlittler delivered. The command was precise. The Giants were overmatched from start to finish. Judge made sure to praise him.
Two games in, no runs allowed, and a sweep on the horizon.
The Yankees have sent an early message to the rest of the league.
