On Friday, the San Francisco Giants will open up a series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The Giants are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday in Ohio.

Ahead of Friday’s game, news came out that a former Giants pitcher had been designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles.

Jake Rill of MLB.com wrote: “Orioles have recalled RHP Anthony Nunez from Triple-A Norfolk and DFA’d RHP Albert Suárez. The 40-man roster is down to 39.”

Suárez had been in the middle of his third season with Baltimore.

He went 2-0 with a 3.93 ERA in 25 games.

Suárez played the first two years of his career for the Giants.

He appeared in 40 games for the franchise.

The 36-year-old joined the Orioles in 2024.

Over 102 career games (37 starts), Suárez has gone 16-15 with a 3.99 ERA.

It will be interesting to see if he gets claimed on waivers by another team.

The Giants are the fourth-place team in the National League West with a 52-75 record in 127 games.

They have gone 3-7 over their last ten games (and are 23-42 in 65 games on the road).

Looking At The Orioles Right Now

As for the Orioles, they will open up a series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.

Right now, they are at the bottom of the American League East with a 61-67 record in 128 games.
