The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the more prestigious teams in MLB known for their rich history, baseball icons, and World Series championships.
However, due to the recent slip in the product on the field, residents of St. Louis are no longer coming in droves to see their beloved Cardinals. The last few seasons have seen a dip in attendance, but it’s likely due to the fact that the Cardinals missed the playoffs in both seasons and are headed towards a rebuild.
Last week, the Cardinals’ promotion team announced a new food package that should help retain folks in Busch Stadium.

Tickets are already on sale for the 2026 season, and fans with the eligible wristband will be able to pick up to three eligible food or drink options per visit.
Last season, the Cardinals’ average attendance at Busch Stadium was 27,778. That ranked 11th in the National League and was down nearly 8,000 people from the 2024 season.
For context, St. Louis averages 40,000 fans per game during the 2022-2023 campaign. The lack of attendance could be a sign to ownership that the St. Louis faithful.

Will the Cardinals Have a Better Attendance in 2026?
It’s hard to see the attendance issue get fully resolved in 2026, as the Cardinals’ upper management traded away several players this offseason to gear towards a rebuild, and fans will likely have to endure another losing season, but at least select fans will get access to unlimited food and drink.
The tickets start as low as $29, but it varies based on opponent and time of game, of course.
However, it’s a good idea for Busch Stadium and the Cardinals. Adapting to the standards of ballparks around the country isn’t a bad idea, and it might even turn into a big success if the team is somewhat competitive around July and August.
