Blue Jays Trade Prediction Lands Mets’ $75 Million Starter for JoJo Parker, Ricky Tiedemann

Do the Blue Jays need to consider making a trade for a starting pitcher? There are four notable starters on the Injured List, but many of them (Jose Berrios, Trey Yesavage, and Shane Bieber) aren’t considered to be long-term.

SI.com’s Ryan Shea wasted no time floating a big mock trade, which would send New York Mets starter Kodai Senga to the Toronto Blue Jays for a large prospect haul that includes JoJo Parker and Ricky Tiedemann. Is this a move the Blue Jays should consider making?

Blue Jays-Mets Trade Pitch; Who Says No?

Per Shea of SI, here’s the official trade package:

“Blue Jays Acquire:

RHP Kodai Senga

Mets Acquire: SS JoJo Parker, LHP Ricky Tiedemann, LHP Johnny King”

It’s a big haul, and that might lead Blue Jays fans to be a little hesitant about making this deal, but it’s fair to note that Kodai Senga is off to a good start in 2026 and has solid career numbers.

Senga carried trade rumors during the offseason, but those reports never further developed. The 33-year-old righty signed a five-year, $75 million contract before pitching in MLB, and carries a flat 3.00 ERA over 54 total starts. The only issue surrounding Senga has been his injury status, but for now at least, he appears to be healthy.

Are Ricky Tiedemann and JoJo Parker Untouchable Prospects?

There is no doubt that this is a large prospect package for the Blue Jays to surrender for an aging starter who has large injury concerns.

Ricky Tiedemann and JoJo Parker are considered the future of the Blue Jays in some respects. Tiedemann figures to be up in the majors this season, and Parker is Toronto’s #2 overall prospect, according to MiLB.com.

Tiedemann is a 6-foot-4 southpaw with a funky arm slot that will surely deceive opposing hitters; it’s just a matter of him staying healthy and also throwing enough strikes.

As for the Mets and Kodai Senga, it’s very fair to bring his name up in trade rumors, but it feels like the Mets’ rotation is relying on him too heavily right now for them to consider a trade.

However, if things trend in the wrong direction again for Kodai Senag (if you remember correctly, he was demoted to Triple-A last season), a trade (or at least strong speculation) is likely at some point during the season.
