Blue Jays Announce Max Scherzer Update

The Blue Jays have been without Max Scherzer since April 24.
Ahead of their series with the Marlins, the team announced the latest update on the future Hall of Famer.
MLB.com wrote (on May 25): “Will face live hitters May 27, which could be final step before rehab assignment.”
According to the site, he is still supposed to return in June.
Scherzer is currently 1-3 with a 9.64 ERA in his first five games of the 2026 season.
He is in his second year with Toronto.

Scherzer (who is 41) is in his 19th MLB season.
The three-time Cy Young Award winner has also spent time with the Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets, Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He has won the World Series twice (with the Nationals and Rangers).
Over 488 career games, Scherzer has gone 222-120 with a 3.26 ERA.

While has has struggled this season, Scherzer is still an important pitcher for Toronto.
Last year, he helped lead the franchise to the World Series.
