Winter weather has once again forced NASCAR to modify its plans at Rockingham Speedway. The preseason organizational test for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series will now take place on a single day, Friday, February 6.

Originally set for January 27-28 and later rescheduled to February 3-4, the test was postponed due to ongoing winter storms across the Southeast.

To minimize further disruptions and scheduling conflicts, NASCAR and Track Enterprises opted to condense the session into one day. Teams will have a full day to prepare for the upcoming April race weekend, with officials maintaining a focus on safety as Rockingham gears up for its return to the national schedule.

NASCAR Confirms Revised Rockingham Test Schedule for February 6

Track Enterprises confirmed the revised schedule on February 1. The test will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 6. Officials attributed the change to lingering effects of the winter storm and continued regional challenges.

“Due to the ongoing effects of this weekend’s historic winter storm and its continued impact on surrounding areas,” Track Enterprises stated, “the previously scheduled two-day test has been condensed to a single-day format.”

The adjustment also followed changes to NASCAR’s overall schedule. The postponement of the Cook Out Clash created a conflict with the original Rockingham test dates, prompting NASCAR and Track Enterprises to collaborate on rescheduling and avoiding overlap.

Fans will be allowed to attend the test free of charge and can watch from the Turn 4 grandstands. Select drivers will be available to the media in the infield media center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Media members will have access to the garage from noon to 5 p.m.

O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series Teams use Rockingham Test for  Preparation

The Rockingham test is the only preseason organizational test scheduled for both the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. Teams will use the session to prepare for the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 presented by Black’s Tire and the Black’s Tire 200.

Dozens of teams are expected to participate. Teams will use the session to gather data on the repaved surface while sharpening setups ahead of race weekend. With Rockingham Speedway undergoing significant updates in recent years, including a full repave, testing is crucial for effective performance planning.

The Black’s Tire 200 for the Craftsman Truck Series is scheduled for Friday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. EDT. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race will take place Saturday, April 4, at 2:30 p.m.

Rockingham Speedway Advances Toward NASCAR National Schedule

Rockingham Speedway returned to NASCAR action in 2025 and hosted a successful Easter weekend, helping secure its place on the 2026 schedule. Track Enterprises is once again serving as the official promoter for the event.

The February test represents another milestone in Rockingham’s revival as a national NASCAR venue. While the weather has twice delayed on-track activity, officials remain committed to advancing preparation plans.

Track Enterprises emphasized that schedules remain subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Teams will now focus on making the most of Friday’s condensed session as Rockingham prepares to host its first NASCAR national series races in over a decade.
