On Friday evening, the Houston Rockets are playing the Minnesota Timberwolves (at home) in Texas.
Kevin Durant had 14 points, four rebounds and two assists while shooting 6/7 from the field in his first 12 minutes of playing time.

In addition to his strong start to the game, Durant also made NBA history.
Will Guillory of The Athletic wrote: “Kevin Durant is already up to 10 points in the 1st quarter. He needed 7 coming into tonight to reach 2,000 points this season. He’s officially the first player in NBA history to score 2,000 points in a single season after turning 37 years old.”
Durant (who is in his first season with the Rockets) came into the night with averages of 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest while shooting 51.8% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range in 77 games.
He is in his 19th NBA year (and 18th playing).
Rockets This Season
The Rockets came into the night with a 51-29 record in 80 games, which has them as the fifth seed in the Western Conference.
They are in the middle of an eight-game winning streak (and 29-10 at home).
Following the Timberwolves, the Rockets will play their final game of the 2026 regular season on Sunday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
Durant was traded to the Rockets (via the Phoenix Suns) over the summer.
He has also spent time playing for the Brooklyn Nets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors.
The two-time NBA Champion is looking to help lead the Rockets to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2018 (when James Harden was still on the roster).

Timberwolves Right Now
The Timberwolves entered play as the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 47-33 record in 80 games.
