UPDATE: Los Angeles Lakers Make Concerning Austin Reaves Announcement

On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Thunder (in OKC) by a score of 139-96.

During the game, Austin Reaves got injured.

However, he was able to return to action (and finished with 15 points while shooting 5/9 from the field).

UPDATE: Austin Reaves has been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season (h/t Underdog NBA).

The Lakers will play their next game on Sunday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks in Texas.

Before the game, head coach JJ Redick announced an update on Reaves.

Dan Woike of The Athletic wrote: “Austin Reaves received imaging on his rib/oblique. Lakers are awaiting results. Status is TBD”

Reaves is in the middle of his fifth NBA season (all with Los Angeles).

The former Oklahoma star is having another strong year with averages of 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 49.0% from the field and 36.0% from three-point range in 51 games.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin added: “JJ Redick says Austin Reaves had multiple MRI on his left side/ribs in Dallas. His status for Sunday in Dallas is TBD, per the Lakers. Marcus Smart also remains TBD, per the team.”

Lakers Rolling Despite OKC Loss

Despite their tough loss to the Thunder, the Lakers are 8-2 over their last ten games.

They are also the third seed in the Western Conference with a 50-27 record.

On the road, the Lakers have gone 24-15 in 39 games played away from Crypto.com Arena.

After the Mavs, they will conclude their road trip and return home to host the Thunder on Tuesday.

In addition to Reaves and Smart, the Lakers are also dealing with an injury to Luka Doncic.

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote (on April 3): “Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is out indefinitely due to a left hamstring injury, sources tell me and @mcten. He will miss the remainder of the regular season and his status is uncertain beyond that.”

Mavs Before Lakers Visit

The Mavs are the 13th seed in the Western Conference with a 24-53 record in 77 games.

They are in the middle of a three-game losing streak (and 2-8 over their last ten).
