Lakers Two-Way Contract Signee Giving Them Life

Trying to describe the 2025-26 Lakers season would be an interesting assignment for anyone. They have stacked up some impressive wins, while also falling so flat on other days it’s like their instruments were all out of tune.

They were able to defeat the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, overcoming a wild late first-half barrage to stage a second-half comeback victory. Another Luka Doncic triple-double helped them do the trick. Through it all, they remain just a half-game behind the Rockets for #4 in the Western Conference.

Back on November 24th, the team inked Drew Timme to a two-way contract. Since he joined the major league club, he has been providing a legitimate lift for the bunch. He showed the same flashes with the Brooklyn Nets at the end of last year, and it’s been good to see.

He put up a double-double in his debut, after all. Energy on the glass and finishing through contact were two things Timme was doing well, as he had in college previously.

More on Timme to come.

Drew Timme Shining In LA

Drew Timme joined the Lakers rotation a few games back, and had an instant impact. Against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Gonzaga product poured in 21 points in 29 minutes. He knocked in eight of his 12 shots, while also dishing out four assists.

With the team short-handed, he was able to get the ball in the hole. The 21 points he scored marked a new career-high. Against the Raptors on January 18th, he only put in three points in his 16 minutes, but he pulled down three boards and kept the energy up.

It was a bit surprising on Tuesday night against Denver that he logged just 11 minutes. But with an and-one less than two minutes into his first appearance, he helped set a quick tone.

Timme wound up with nine points and three rebounds in 11 minutes, finishing with a +5 net rating in his time. It’s been the intangibles as well that he’s brought, creating driving lanes and remaining aggressive.

Timme will certainly be a candidate to have his two-way deal converted to a standard contract when the time is right.

Another nice find from Rob Pelinka and the LA front office.

Lakers Look to Keep Things Rolling in Positive Direction

As Austin Reaves has remained out of the lineup, the Lakers have been missing some serious scoring. The 5th-year guard had been averaging nearly 27 points per game. LA has been able to remain afloat, which is all that can be asked with such an energizer missing.

This team is about to hit their most important stretch of the season. The battle with Denver last night kicked off an eight-game road trip. A chance to build team camaraderie and show the effort and energy they are capable of playing with. Starting with a win as they did, was big. They kept their opponents off the board for nearly seven minutes late, as they made their move.

LeBron James has been getting better as the year has gone on. DeAndre Ayton, who left the game with an injury, has been a catalyst in the team’s success. An update should be coming soon on the big man.

As long as Luka Doncic is putting up numbers and playing at such a high level, they will be in every game. It’s on Drew Timme and the role players to step up when called upon.

It will become very clear what kind of team this truly is when they return from their long road trip.
