The Philadelphia 76ers had a rough end to their 2025-26 season.

And now it looks like changes could be coming at the top. After getting swept out of the playoffs by the New York Knicks, the pressure on team leadership has never been higher. Big decisions are coming, and Philly fans deserve to know what is actually going on.

According to The Athletic, “The jobs of Morey and head coach Nick Nurse are expected to be evaluated entering the offseason, multiple league sources told The Athletic. As of Sunday’s elimination, team sources said ownership has not made final decisions on either and is likely to take a few days to assess before making any major calls,” as per Tony Jones.

Honestly, this evaluation feels long overdue. The Sixers have been spinning their wheels for years now injuries, excuses, and empty promises.

At some point, accountability has to start at the top, and it looks like ownership is finally reaching that breaking point.

The Knicks Made It Look Easy

The Sixers Got Swept by New York Knicks

‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ New York Knicks didn’t just win over the Philadelphia 76ers – they totally humiliated them. The Knicks thrashed the Sixers all 4 games, scoring 137-98, 108-102, 108-94, and 144-114 in the last game. The 76ers were so weak that they seemed like a hopeless team right from the start.

What happened in game 4 was the most terrifying display of all. During the first quarter alone, the Knicks made an NBA postseason record of 11 three-pointers and in the end, the team made 25 threes. Jalen Brunson, Deuce McBride, Josh Hart, and Karl-Anthony Towns were playing great, on the other hand, Philadelphia was clueless.

In the game, Joel Embiid scored 24 points, and Tyrese Maxey made only 17, but the deficit between the team and the leading team was just too big.

The Knicks beat their opponents by 194 points across 10 playoff games – the highest point differential in a 10-game postseason span in NBA history. The 76ers barely put up a fight in any of it. ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Sixers are now facing a big offseason. It is said that the owners will take a few days before they decide on Morey or Nurse. But time is running out, and Philadelphia cannot waste another season without a result.

Regardless of whether Morey and Nurse stay or leave, it is evident that the current setup is failing. The Knicks have just demonstrated that. Philly needs a total rebuild, full accountability, and a proper plan. At the moment, they have none of those ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌things.
