Former Arizona Cardinals receiver Zay Jones has found a new team. Jones will sign with the Houston Texans, according to NFL Insiders Mike Garofolo and Ian Rapoport.

Jones spent the past two seasons with the Cardinals. The veteran receiver signed as depth behind starting outside receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson in Drew Petzing’s offense.

His tenure in Arizona got off to a rough start when he served a five-game suspension at the start of the 2024 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Jones returned as a depth player at the receiver position in 2025, but didn’t see a lot of action in the offense.

In two seasons, he played 578 snaps across 19 games. He caught 20 passes for 267 yards and no touchdowns on 29 targets. With a coaching change, the team elected to go in a different direction at the receiver position.

Cardinals WR Room Entering 2026 Season

Even with Zay Jones signing with another team, the Cardinals are in a good spot with their receiver room entering the 2026 season.

Their biggest offseason move was signing New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers receiver Kendrick Bourne in free agency. Bourne is on track for a key role in the offense this season, after reuniting with head coach Mike LaFleur.

Arizona should feature a lot of three-receiver looks in LaFleur’s offense in 2026. Bourne will play mostly in the slot, with Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr. on the outside. That should give LaFleur plenty of opportunities to target opposing defenses with a solid receiver trio.

The preseason will likely sort out the rest of the wide receiver depth chart.

In his preseason mailbag, Arizona Cardinals On SI’s Donnie Druin believes the team will carry five receivers. Devin Duvernay could make the club as a return man, handling both kickoff and punt return duties. He also listed rookie receiver Reggie Virgil, the team’s fifth-round choice in this year’s draft.

If Arizona elects to carry a sixth receiver on their 53-man, they could have a tough choice. Preseason standout Jalen Brooks could be the leading candidate for that spot.
