When it comes to elite defensive play in the NFL, longtime ESPN analyst and former All-Pro Baltimore Ravens linebacker Bart Scott is one of the few people we can truly consider an expert.
That’s why when Scott talks about something to do with his old team, we should listen.
On Friday, Scott made probably the best case for the Ravens to trade for Las Vegas Raiders NFL All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby — swapping second round picks in 2026 and 2027 for a player who could immediately turn the Ravens into Super Bowl contenders.
Crosby Wants No Part of Raiders Rebuild
Crosbyy seems to have no interest in being part of his franchise’s rebuild.
That rebuild comes with presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza at quarterback and an ownership group with a bizarre leadership structure in place that seems to have put 7-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady at the helm, despite having zero experience as an NFL executive.
The one part of Scott’s trade pitch that seems somewhat unrealistic is giving up the pair of 2nd round picks for Crosby — it’s hard to see the Raiders giving him up for any package that doesn’t include a 1st round pick.
Crosby 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, is 28 years old and in his prime. He plays on a level that could have him on the path to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Few Players on Same Level as Crosby
In 7 NFL seasons since the Raiders drafted Crosby in the 4th round out of Eastern Michigan, he’s a 5-time Pro Bowler and 2-time NFL All-Pro with 69.5 career sacks and 111 career TFL — a category he’s led the NFL in twice, in 2022 and 2023.
In 2025, playing for the worst team in the NFL, Crosby had 73 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 28 TFL, 6 pass deflections, 1 interception and 2 forced fumbles in just 15 games as the Raiders shut him down for the final 2 games of the regular season — a move likely done to make sure they secured the No. 1 overall pick.
