With the Baltimore Ravens having a new coach, it’s easy to compare the current coach to the last.
In a way, Rashod Bateman and Ronnie Stanley did just that after making some comments about the current coaching staff’s attention to detail.
“Everybody harps on the details,” Bateman said to the media on Thursday. “That’s not what we’ve had here.”
A person can say one thing and imply another without saying it. It’s clear that this Ravens team is rejuvenated after the firing of Harbaugh.
After a disappointing 2025, Bateman and the Ravens look to bounce back as John Harbaugh has moved on to the New York Giants.
“The Ravens fired Harbaugh after 18 seasons in January, shortly before promoting Minter from defensive coordinator to head coach,” Julia Stumbaugh wrote in a Bleacher Report article. “Harbaugh has since taken over as head coach of the New York Giants, while former Ravens offensive coordinator has left to coach the Cleveland Browns.”
Bateman Looking to Step Up in 2026
Many expected Rashod Bateman to have a breakout year in 2025, but he fell short of expectations. As a result, the Ravens were limited in their pass game. Crucial drops and injuries are the main reasons why many fans want the Baltimore Ravens to release or trade Bateman.
Bateman played all 17 games for the Ravens in 2024. The Ravens wideout recorded nine touchdowns and racked up 756 yards during the 2024 season which is why he got paid the way he did.
Bateman only had 19 receptions for 224 yards in the 2025 season. While injuries played a role, he played in 13 of the Ravens’ 17 games in 2025.
It’s clear Bateman will have much to prove in the 2026 season. The question mark has never been his talent, but it’s his availability and consistency.
“Rashod Bateman is going to get every chance to return to form in 2026. Baltimore simply invested too much in him to take him off the field. The 26-year-old signed a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension last offseason.” Connor Burke wrote in an Ebony Bird article.
Jesse Minter Looking to Turn Things Around
Having a new coach can seem like a breath of fresh air considering you have fallen short year after year in the playoffs. When the Baltimore Ravens have lost, they lost in dramatic fashion. You would think it would be something out of a movie.
From dropped passes at the goal line, to fumbles at the goal line, to missed field goals, and a defense that has not looked Baltimore Ravens-like in the past two years; Jesse Minter will seek to turn things around.
There are expectations to take this team forward to a Super Bowl. You don’t get rid of a former Super Bowl champion coach to just fit in with the crowd.
Baltimore brought in Jesse Minter hoping he could take the Ravens where they need to go. Now, all Baltimore has to do is put it on the field. The question will never be this team’s talent, but can they shoulder the pressure when it matters most?
Only time will tell.
