The Baltimore Ravens continue to go through a transformative period. With John Harbaugh’s departure and Jesse Minter’s arrival, the franchise turns the page on overall coaching. To this point, the Ravens have garnered significant praise across the board for their hires.

After finishing 8-9 and losing the AFC North in the final weekend, the team decided to make changes. From the start, owner Steve Bisciotti and general manager Eric DeCosta have stayed in lockstep when it comes to assembling a coaching staff. To contend with the conference elite, Bisciotti and DeCosta sought change.

Many believe that Minter’s approach to defensive football could be a significant change. Unlike his predecessor, Minter considers himself a hands-on teacher. Moreover, he discussed playcalling and who will be in charge.

Ravens Chose Doyle to Renovate the Offense

In selecting Declan Doyle, Minter decided to buck tradition and choose a young coordinator who would bring change. In Chicago, head coach Ben Johnson called the plays, and Doyle served as an integral voice. However, the full offense appears to be in his grasp as he takes full control. The entire offense falls on his shoulders.

As a result, how Lamar Jackson plays within the new scheme falls upon Doyle’s shoulders. Traditionally, the Ravens stand as one of the better running teams in the NFL. Now, Doyle may want to put into practice what he learned in Chicago. For example, while Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is not as mobile as Jackson, he moves around the pocket well enough to allow receivers to separate.

Ledford’s Tasks Could Close Team’s Immediate Future

Dwayne Ledford enjoyed a long career as a journeyman lineman. With that, he looked to have developed the physical mentality of a coach. With Derrick Henry and at least 60% of the offensive line returning, the coach will need to potentially shore up two positions.

Tyler Linderbaum will enter free agency and possibly command at least $16 million per season. Spotrac lists his market value at $17,723,296. Management did not exercise its fifth-year option, despite a list of accomplishments.

Meanwhile, free agent right guard Daniel Faalele’s potential opening. Faalele struggled to become a total player. On the other hand, the Ravens could use a first-round pick to replace Faalele.

Former Ravens DE Returns as Defensive Coordinator.

Anthony Weaver played 57 games over four seasons in Baltimore, tallying 14.5 sacks. Under Minter, he will help with the installation of the scheme and game plan. Plus, as a former player, he can impart personal knowledge that Minter can’t. The Ravens look to run a vastly different defense.

Ravens Hope for Balance Between Youth and Experience

With wholesale changes to the coaching staff and a possible mass exodus in free agency, finding players who mesh well with the coaching staff seems to be a goal of management. The AFC, from New England and Buffalo in the east to Denver and Kansas City in the west, will remain challenging for Baltimore. Minter and the Ravens chose to try a different route. How it works will remain to be seen.
