The Bills fell to the Broncos 33-30 in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday. Buffalo had several opportunities to secure the win but failed to stop Denver’s second overtime drive, which ultimately led to a game-winning field goal.

Joey Bosa Wasn’t Happy After the Game

Bills defensive end Joey Bosa was among the players involved in Denver’s game-winning drive, but he didn’t have the best reaction as he walked off the field and headed back to the locker room after the game ended.

A video showed Bosa angrily throwing his helmet against the wall in the tunnel as he headed to the locker room. Football is an emotional sport, and Bosa, who did everything he could to secure a win, needed an outlet for his frustration.

Bosa had three tackles in the loss, but he almost had a significant penalty on the last drive of the game.

On a 2nd and 10 play from the Denver 47-yard line, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix attempted to connect with wide receiver Courtland Sutton for a 17-yard gain. Unfortunately, the pass fell incomplete, but a pass interference penalty was called on Taron Johnson. At the same time, the officials called roughing the passer on Bosa. If Johnson hadn’t been penalized for pass interference, Bosa’s penalty would have remained in effect.

The Bills signed Bosa to a one-year, $12 million contract this offseason. Bosa spent nine seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers before they released him in March. Bosa recorded five sacks and five forced fumbles in 15 games this season.

With Bosa set to become a free agent this offseason, there’s a possibility that the Bills may decide not to re-sign him. Buffalo is likely to prioritize youth along the defensive line, which could mean targeting a defensive end in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Buffalo Missed a Big Chance to Reach the Super Bowl

The Bills seemed poised for success this postseason, yet once again, they fell short of their Super Bowl aspirations. Entering the playoffs as the most experienced team in the AFC, Buffalo caught a significant break with the Kansas City Chiefs missing the postseason.

Four out of the last five postseasons, the Chiefs ended the Bills’ season, but this time without Kansas City in it, Buffalo couldve’ reached the Super Bowl.

The Bills will need to reassess this offseason to understand why they have yet to secure the AFC title. There’s potential for a change at the helm, as head coach Sean McDermott’s position could be in jeopardy. Buffalo has explored nearly every avenue in its quest to win the conference, and parting ways with McDermott may be the last resort it considers in its pursuit of success.

There’s always next season, and the Bills could finally make it to the Super Bowl. With Josh Allen as their quarterback, Buffalo can’t be counted out, and if they can make some significant changes, there’s a chance that 2026 could be their year.
