Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman has been a topic of conversation this offseason. He was listed as a healthy inactive multiple times in 2025. Then, owner Terry Pegula claimed Coleman was a draft pick of the team’s former coaching staff.
“The coaching staff pushed for Keon (Coleman),” Pegula said during his press conference on Jan. 21. “He was not Brandon’s next choice. Brandon (Beane) was being a team player.”
Pegula’s comments sparked controversy during his combined press conference with the president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane. Some even questioned Coleman’s future with the organization after the press conference.
Bills reporter Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com predicted that the Bills would part ways with Coleman. He noted the relationship “may be fractured.”
“One major takeaway today: I don’t see a path forward for Keon Coleman to remain a Buffalo Bill,” Parrino posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Despite Brandon Beane’s comments on the organization’s belief in him, feels like the relationship may be fractured beyond repair after Terry Pegula’s revelation on decision to draft Coleman.”
However, Coleman still seems to have support within the organization.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Isn’t Giving Up on Keon Coleman

GettyDespite comments made by Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula, Josh Allen said he’s not giving up on wide receiver Keon Coleman.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen spoke to local media for the first time this offseason, following Joe Brady’s introductory press conference as the franchise’s next head coach.
Allen was asked about Pegula’s comments on Coleman. The quarterback voiced his full support for “0”, according to Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com.
“I’m not going to give up on ‘0.’ He’s got too much ability,” Allen said, according to Dunne. “I will not give up on him. We’re going to work tirelessly, him and me, and as well as everybody else in this building to make sure that whenever we step foot on the field, that we’re going to find ways to win football games, and he’s going to be a part of that.”
Despite playing in 13 games this season and starting in six, Coleman caught 38 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns. He caught eight passes for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Bills’ season-opening, 41-40, victory over the Baltimore Ravens. However, he never topped 50 receiving yards the rest of the season and never caught more than four passes in a game.
Coleman was targeted just four times in the playoffs, catching two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks Wants to Help Coleman

GettyBuffalo Bills wide receiver Brandin Cooks said he wants to help develop Keon Coleman.
During a recent appearance on “Good Morning Football,” Bills wide receiver Brandin Cooks said he wants to help Coleman develop. He believes Coleman can excel in the NFL, but also thinks he’s misunderstood.
“When I got to Buffalo, that was a guy I was going to gravitate towards to help out,” Cooks said. “I think Keon can play this game at a high level, I really do. He’s going to continue to grow.
“I think he’s also misunderstood. He’s a young kid, right? He’s still trying to figure it out. For me, I’ll take that and say, ‘How can I help this kid grow and be the guy they want him to be? Because obviously, there’s talent there. The guy can make plays. I think he’ll continue to grow, and I think he has been.”
Cooks, who signed with the Bills midseason, is currently a free agent and would have to be re-signed this offseason to help develop Coleman in 2026.
