The Bills are gearing up for a playoff game against the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday, but it’s never too early to start thinking about players Buffalo should try to add to its roster next season.

Buffalo will need to add to its defense. Almost every position group on that side of the ball could use some help. The Bills can use free agency to fill some holes, but the 2026 NFL Draft is where they can find players who can be around for the next decade.

The Bills will need to determine which direction they want to take in the first round of the draft. Buffalo definitely needs to add a wide receiver, but it could also benefit from a top-notch pass rusher.

With this draft class expected to be strong at both positions, the Bills could add a pass rusher in the first round and then a receiver in the second round, or vice versa.

Bills Could Draft an Edge in April

Trevor Sikkema from Pro Football Focus published a mock draft on Monday and has the Bills taking Texas Tech pass rusher Romello Height.

“Height pairs ideal length with long arms and quick hands, deploying a refined pass-rush arsenal that produced a 92.4 PFF pass-rush grade and a 22.2% pass-rush win rate in 2025 as part of Texas Tech’s dominant defensive line,” Sikkema wrote. “He’s the type of quick, finesse-oriented edge rusher the Bills are currently missing.”

Height played college football for six seasons, starting at Auburn in 2020. After spending two seasons with the Tigers, he transferred to USC for two more years and then moved on to Georgia Tech for one season. Last offseason, he decided to join Texas Tech to continue his college career.

The Red Raiders finished a great season, going 12-2 and winning the Big 12 title, but fell to Oregon in the Orange Bowl on Thursday.

One reason Texas Tech was so good was its defense, and Height was one of the top players. He finished with 10 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in 14 games.

Joey Bosa Might Not Be Back in Buffalo

The Bills might consider drafting Height or another pass rusher to fill the role of defensive end Joey Bosa, who signed a one-year deal worth $12 million this offseason.

If Bosa does not return to the Bills or Buffalo doesn’t want him back, then a young rookie pass rusher could be the best option to replace him.

The NFL Draft is still over three months away, giving plenty of time to watch how the Bills will tackle their roster needs. Free agency and trading will take place in March, which could be the ideal time for Buffalo to bring in a few elite veteran playmakers before it focuses on drafting young talent at the end of April.

Hopefully, the Bills can keep their season going strong this week. This could be the year Buffalo makes a serious push for the Super Bowl, especially with some of the top quarterbacks in the AFC, like Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, not in the playoffs.
