The 2025 NFL season came to a heartbreaking close for the Baltimore Ravens, who were eliminated from playoff contention after placekicker Tyler Loop’s potential winning 44-yard field goal went wide right at the end of regulation in Sunday evening’s crucial tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.
The missed kick gave the Steelers the victory and the AFC North Title, and they’re officially moving on to the NFL Playoffs to face the Houston Texans on Monday night in the wild-card round. Meanwhile, the Ravens are heading home with just their third losing season in head coach John Harbaugh’s 18 seasons.
It was a particularly painful setback for Loop, who has now had to endure a barrage of vile online message from angry fans directed not only at him, but at his fiancée, Julia Otto.
Multiple angry fans left hateful comments on his post announcing his engagement to Otto, which has since been set to private.

Baltimore Ravens Kicker Tyler Loop Admitted That The Season-Ending Field Goal Miss “Sucks”
It was nothing short of a devastating feeling for Loop, who admitted the unfortunate truth of the terrible feeling going through him in the wake of the setback.
“For it to end like that sucks, and I want to do better,” Loop said. “Unfortunately, the nature of the job is you have makes, and those are awesome, and unfortunately, you have misses, and for that to happen tonight sucks.”
“It was a great situation, exactly what we wanted, and unfortunately, I just mishit the ball,” he continued. “We call it hitting it thin. It spins fast and goes off to the right.”
Loop also said that the second that his foot made contact with the ball, he knew that it was unfortunately going to miss the target.
“The second it made contact with my foot, I felt it lower,” Loop said. “We talk about hitting on the fourth lace of the shoe. It felt a little lower down the foot and hit it thin.”
Loop also said that he has the support of Harbaugh, who was seen with his arm around him as they both trudged to the dressing room following the devastating setback.
“Just [get] back in the saddle,” Loop said of what Harbaugh’s message to him was. “‘Hey, you’re going to have more [kicks]. You have to get ready. It sucks, and we have your back, but we have to go.'”
It was the highest pressure situation that Loop, who replaced Ravens legend Justin Tucker, had faced so far in his young NFL career, during which he’s only missed three total kicks while making every kick from under 50 yards during the 2025 season.

The Ravens’ Season Is Now Over
Despite the devastating finish, Loop has the support not only of his head coach, but of quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is ready to leave the incident in the past as they prepare for a far earlier than anticipated offseason.
“I felt like it was going to come down to him to win the game for us at the end just because of how the game was going,” Jackson said. “He’s a rookie. It’s all good. Just leave it in the past.”
