Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have a ticket to the postseason, but there’s still regular season football to play, and on Sunday, December 28, the team takes on the Philadelphia Eagles at home. The Bills are coming off a glorious 23-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 21, which helped them shoot up the AFC tally.
The Bills have an 11-4 record heading into the Eagles game and are No. 2 in the AFC East, only behind the New England Patriots. The Eagles are at the top of the NFC East, so they’re also a strong team, which is expected, since they’re coming off a 2024-25 championship win.
Literally hours before the Bills and Eagles were set to take the field, the NFL announced a punishment decision for one Philadelphia player, and he’s being hit with a double punishment. The NFL’s move is to discipline this player for his actions during the team’s game on on Saturday, December 20, against the Washington Commanders, which ended in a 29-18 win for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Eagles Player Discipled Before Buffalo Bills Game
Each week during the season, the NFL issues punishments to players for actions taken during the previous week’s showdowns. The NFL states on their official website that these actions are “to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity.” Also, before each season’s start, the NFL and NFL Players Association agree on the set of game-related rules violations that result in these accountability measures.
On Saturday, December 27, the NFL announced that they’re punishing Philadelphia Eagles player Tyler Steen for his actions during a brawl between Eagles and Commanders players on Saturday, December 20. The incident happened with 4:26 remaining in the fourth quarter of the game.
The NFL is handing Steen not one but two fines, both for $8,435. One is for “unsportsmanlike conduct” and a “swung” motion, and the other is for “unnecessary roughness” and “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing.”
But, the funds raised from those fines will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.” So, it’s a noble cause.
Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen Talks New Stadium
Ahead of the Bills’ Week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Allen talked about playing in one of the final games at Highmark Stadium.
“Obviously, a lot of love, a lot of energy, you can feel it in there when you play,” Allen said. “Excited for obviously the new stadium and hopefully the no wind in there, that’ll be really fun.”
Allen added, “Going to enjoy these last two here and know that it’s a pretty fun time for our fans and ourselves to be in the stadium.”
Allen and the Buffalo Bills have two more games remaining on the schedule at home, counting the Eagles on Sunday and the then New York Jets in Week 18. From there, it will be time for the team to start a new chapter for the franchise.
