The Buffalo Bills have appointed Joe Brady as their new head coach after hiring him from his position as offensive coordinator on Tuesday.
Since the Bills have hired their new coach, every other candidate in the running will need to look elsewhere for a new position or stay with their respective teams.
One of the candidates for the Bills’ head coaching position was former Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Daboll spent time with the Bills from 2018 to 2022 before the New York Giants hired him as their head coach.
However, the Giants parted ways with Daboll in the middle of this season, and he is currently without a job. That situation may soon be coming to an end.
Daboll Expected to Land With Titans
Daboll remains a candidate for the Raiders‘ head coaching position. Still, if Las Vegas doesn’t hire him, the expectation is that he will join the Tennessee Titans as their offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Titans have appointed Robert Saleh, the former defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, as their new head coach. He needs to quickly bring in a strong offensive mind to work with second-year quarterback Cam Ward, and Daboll heading there would be a great fit.
Daboll might not be the best head coach, finishing with a 20-40-1 record with the Giants, but he knows how to work with young quarterbacks.
One of the reasons Bills quarterback Josh Allen has developed into one of the best players in the NFL is the work Daboll put in with him during the first four years of his career. Daboll also did a great job supporting rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart this past season, but he had limited time to work with him since Dart didn’t start the season, and Daboll’s tenure in New York was cut short.
The Titans Would be Lucky to Land Daboll
Daboll would do wonders for Ward, who possesses a great deal of talent but still exhibits some rawness in certain aspects of his game. There’s a reason the Titans selected Ward with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft; he showcased flashes of brilliance throughout the season, yet he never quite managed to put it all together consistently. Ward finished the season throwing for 3,169 yards and achieved 15 touchdowns, alongside seven interceptions, across 17 games. One significant move the Titans made was firing head coach Brian Callahan after just six games this season, which hurt Ward’s development.
It’s already tough for a rookie quarterback to make it in the NFL, but doing it without the head coach who drafted you makes it a hundred times harder. The good news for Ward is that his new head coach, Saleh, isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Since he has a defensive mindset, this will allow Daboll — if he takes on the role of offensive coordinator — a chance to work with Ward one-on-one most of the time.
The Titans will be an interesting team next season if Daboll decides to take on the offensive coordinator role.
