Buffalo Bills star quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen has been at the center of the NFL universe for a number of years, but this summer he took the spotlight in a different way as he got married to actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
In a story from Alaina Getzenberg on ESPN, Allen said that Steinfeld “makes everything easier.”
Allen signed a contract extension with Buffalo this offseason worth $330 million, but it wasn’t even the biggest decision of his summer.
“They’ve all been big, none other than marrying my best friend,” Allen said. “And she makes everything easier, so I don’t really focus on the other stuff. That was the most important decision I’ll make in my life, and I made the right one.”
Allen and Steinfeld have captured the hearts of Bills and NFL fans, and took some of the spotlight away from the NFL’s other power couple, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
“She Makes Everything Easier”
Allen’s first NFL season as a married man has gotten off to a perfect start for both himself and the Bills. If his mindset has shifted to a calmer place following his nuptials with Steinfeld, every team may be in serious trouble because Allen looks like a quarterback possessed through two weeks.
The Bills incredible week one comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens was thanks to a superhuman effort from Allen in the fourth quarter. Allen finished his opening week with 394 passing yards and four touchdowns, two passing and two on the ground.
Allen’s football career has hit plenty of personal highs, but at this juncture of his time with the Bills, the only thing he cares about is bringing a Super Bowl to the long-suffering city of Buffalo.
“And knowing that there’s more in life, it’s … I don’t know, I think as you get older you start to realize that, but don’t get it twisted, I still care, probably an obnoxious amount about this game and trying to bring a Lombardi here to Western New York, and it’s the only goal that I have in my work career,” Allen said.
It seems like his marriage has de-emphasized some of the personal pressure he puts on his personal performance and has made him realize that being the last team standing in February is the only thing that truly matters as far as his football life goes.
Allen and the Bills Set to Take on Faltering Miami on TNF
The Bills are slated to take the field against a deeply troubled Miami Dolphins team on Thursday Night Football tonight. The Dolphins were annihilated by the Indianapolis Colts in week one before collapsing late against the New England Patriots in week two and are now 0-2 as head coach Mike McDaniel looks to keep his job.
TNF will be a battle of two teams with polar opposite levels of confidence, the Bills flying high after putting up 71 points through two weeks while everyone on the Miami sideline is trying to do whatever they can to save their jobs.
The Bills are 11.5 point favorites heading into the game.
