The Chicago Bears are entering the final stretch of their 2025 roster cutdown and making a flurry of moves in anticipation of Tuesday’s NFL cut deadline.

Over the past two days, the Bears have already made several roster moves to get them closer to the mandated 53-man roster limit, such as placing two of their cornerbacks — Terell Smith and fifth-round rookie Zah Frazier — on their respective injury lists.

Here is a live and updated look at every cut and roster move the Bears make ahead of the 4 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday:

QB Austin Reed

Reed didn’t have a great chance at cracking the 53-man roster as the No. 4 quarterback behind former first-round pick Caleb Williams, newly extended backup Tyson Bagent and veteran free-agent signing Case Keenum. He could return to the Bears‘ practice squad, however, to continue his development with Ben Johnson’s new coaching staff.

RB Travis Homer (Placed on IR, Designated for Return)

Homer, a key special teams contributor, has landed on IR and will now miss at least the first four games of the 2025 regular season as he recovers from his injury. He won’t be eligible to return to the active roster until the Bears‘ bye week in Week 5 at the soonest.

RB Ian Wheeler

Wheeler was one of the more surprising roster cuts in the Bears‘ first wave of moves. He had impressed throughout the 2025 preseason and seemed like a solid candidate to win a roster spot, given the injuries plaguing their backfield. Instead, the 23-year-old must find work elsewhere or hope the Bears re-sign him to their 2025 practice squad.

WR Tyler Scott

Scott, a 2023 fourth-round pick, entered his third training camp with seemingly one last chance to impress the Bears‘ coaches and win a role in the receiving rotation, but he did not do enough to convince Chicago that he is worthy of a backup spot. He could be a candidate for the practice squad, but it would not be surprising if another team claimed him off waivers and tried its hand at developing him into a more capable contributor.

DT Zacch Pickens

Pickens had seemed to fall behind the rest of the Bears‘ interior defensive linemen in his third training camp, but his departure on Tuesday marks the latest third-round bust for general manager Ryan Poles. Pickens, a third-round selection in 2023, had 39 total tackles and 1.5 sacks on 492 career defensive snaps over his first two seasons with the Bears. He is now subject to waivers, but could return to the practice squad if unclaimed.
