Pro wrestling fans have come to know that WWE superstar Seth Rollins is something of a ‘Visionary.’ As of August 2, he could also be called the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. And it just so happens, Rollins is also a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears, and never once has one of the best wrestlers alive hid his love for the Monsters of the Midway.
Therefore, nobody should be surprised that during Rollins’ August 14 appearance on Good Morning Football, he was ready to talk all things Bears, including the newfound partnership of second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and first-time head coach Ben Johnson.
Rollins was only a few months old the last time the Chicago Bears won a Super Bowl title, but the Visionary believes that the league’s oldest franchise is ready to make their climb back to the top of the mountain, and deliver multiple generations of Bears fans their first Super Bowl victory.
“I want somebody that is going to push my young lion. I want somebody who is going to make him the best version of himself,” Rollins said. I tell you, the best version of Caleb Williams can lead the Chicago Bears to the [NFC] North championship, and to the Super Bowl. They got the people in place, it’s all hinging on this kid.”
To say that the championship hopes and dreams of Bears fans hinge on Caleb Williams is not inaccurate, even if assuming legitimate contendership will come in 2025 is a step too far. Around Caleb, the Bears have built an impressive roster — the best the city of Chicago has seen since the 2018 squad rolled to a 12-4 regular season record and their first NFC North title in eight years.
It’s a good thing Caleb Williams doesn’t feel any pressure.
Caleb Williams Continues Stacking Strong Practices
It’s no secret that there have been some growing pains for Caleb Williams throughout training camp. Ben Johnson has purposely thrown the kitchen sink at his young quarterback, hoping that overloading him in July and August will better prepare him for the games that matter from September through January.
The good news coming out of the Windy City is that Williams is beginning to have more good days than bad. His command of the offense is coming along, and he continues to flash the insane potential that led to him being selected 1st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft in the first place.
After practice on August 14, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin delivered this high praise for the 23-year-old quarterback.
Aside from the pre-snap errors during Wednesday’s practice, I think the last two days have been a strong showing from Caleb Williams,” Cronin noted on X. “He was decisive in both two-minute drills and trusted different receivers both days to move the offense down the field.”
The receiver that Williams has looked to most often has been his fellow 2024 draftee Rome Odunze, who is emerging throughout the summer as someone who could make a full blown leap to stardom in 2025. Bears beat reporter Herb Howard believes that a 1,200-1,300 yard season could be in store for the former Washington Husky, calling Odunze “the picture of consistency and dependability.”
In Football and in Pro Wrestling, It Takes a Team
Seth Rollins knows all too well that success is often dependent on the people you surround yourself with. Rollins is currently flanked by longtime pro wrestling manager, ‘the Oracle’ Paul Heyman and two young stars in Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. In the past, he’s been part of dominant coalitions such as The Shield and The Authority that helped establish a young Seth Rollins as one of the best pro wrestlers alive.
Caleb Williams has his own personal Oracle in Ben Johnson. He has a ‘Shield’ in the form of an offensive line that includes a former 1st round pick and three new veteran starters on the interior. And if all plays out according to plan, Williams and his deep cast of pass-catchers could develop into the Authority in the NFC North… just as the Visionary sees it.
