The Cincinnati Bengals are entering the 2026 season with a ton of hype surrounding them following a strong offseason.
After missing the playoffs in each of the past three years, the Bengals are looking to get back to the dance. Cincinnati has Super Bowl aspirations this season, being led by star quarterback Joe Burrow once again.
Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when healthy. But health has been a problem for Burrow at times throughout his career, with the star missing a ton of games.
However, anytime Burrow is on the field, the Bengals have a real chance to win. Cincinnati is banking on Burrow staying healthy this season, and if he can, the team could be real contenders.
Burrow will be turning 30 this season, and questions around his legacy have started. The signal-caller has reached a Super Bowl, but his resume is missing some key pieces.
Joe Burrow Hall of Fame Take
NFL analyst Bill Barnwell of ESPN tried to predict players from each team’s chance to make the Hall of Fame down the line. Within, Barnwell gave an interesting take on Burrow, saying that he still has work to do.
“Burrow also has a Hall of Fame case based on his level of play, but injuries are the concern here. He has now missed significant portions of three different seasons (2020, 2023 and 2025), a significant amount for a player who has been in the league for only six years,” Barnwell wrote. “The Bengals also haven’t made the playoffs since 2022, and while that shouldn’t impact Burrow given that he has already made it to a Super Bowl, more playoff success wouldn’t hurt.
Is Joe Burrow Destined for the Hall of Fame?
If Burrow were to stay healthy and continue to put up solid numbers, he could have a chance to make the Hall of Fame down the line. But the signal-caller may need to win at least one MVP award, or even make another Super Bowl to secure his spot.
Over his career, Burrow has played in 77 games, recording a record of 43-33-1. In this time, Burrow has thrown for 20,810 yards with 157 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.
Burrow has won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award twice in his career, coming in 2021 and 2024. The signal-caller has made three Pro Bowl appearances, while being the NFL passing yards and passing touchdowns leader in 2024.
At this point, Burrow isn’t a lock for the Hall of Fame, but his career is far from over. Burrow is still playing at an elite level for the Bengals, and if he can put together multiple more strong seasons, he could have a solid chance.
Of course, Burrow is looking to win championships, rather than establish his own personal legacy. But he understands that winning will help both in the same breath.
2026 will be a key season for the Bengals star, even just to show that he can stay healthy as he helps Cincinnati try to get back to the playoffs. Adding to his resume when the lights shine brightest will also improve his chances, and if all goes to plan, Burrow may get the gold jacket when all is said and done.
