Shedeur Sanders gushes over Browns bringing back young receiver.

The Cleveland Browns made a roster move to the practice squad ahead of Week 4 as the team brought back a young receiver.

The Browns re-signed 23-year-old receiver Luke Floriea to the practice squad and released defensive end K.J. Henry. Floriea spent all offseason with Cleveland after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent.

However, Floriea was waived/injured on August 11, but now, over a month later, Cleveland brought him back, and rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is thrilled by it.

Our connection is really, really good,” Sanders said about Gage Larvadain and Floriea. “He spent the summer with me, of course. But, a lot of other guys that even out there with us, the connection is crazy. Y’all not able to go out to practice and see it, though. That’s the only thing. But it’s okay, though, it’s okay, it’s okay. But take my word for it. I’m trustworthy. Ay, we’re ready. We’re ready.”

Sanders is the Browns‘ scout team quarterback, and he seems to be building trust with Larvadian and Floriea, as he’s excited that Cleveland brought them both back.

Larvadian, like Floriea, signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent signing after the 2025 NFL Draft. He did make the 53-man roster, but was waived after Quinshon Judkins was activated to the roster and was then re-signed to the practice squad.

Sanders Was Disappointed That Cleveland Cut Larvadian

Although Larvadian is back on the Browns‘ practice squad, Sanders was disappointed when he was waived.

Cleveland needed to create a roster spot for Judkins and opted to waive Larvadian. After the news went out, Sanders posted a photo of himself and the young receiver on his Instagram story.

Larvadian, meanwhile, praised Sanders during training camp.

“Yeah, that’s my dog,” Larvadain said of Sanders in the preseason. “I mean, he cool man. He’s just somebody that people just gravitate to just naturally, you know what I mean? And as quarterback and receiver, it’s kind of one of those things, especially when we train the offseason, it’s kind of hard to be a receiver and train by yourself. You need somebody to throw the ball to you. It’s kind of hard for him to train throwing the ball with no one to catch it, so it was just a perfect match.”

Sanders and Larvadian are continuing to build chemistry on the practice field as both are looking to impress enough to get into game action.

Sanders Opens up on Being Browns Scout Team QB

The Browns took Sanders in the fifth round, and he has been the emergency third quarterback on gamedays for Cleveland.

Sanders is getting his playing time in practice as the scout team quarterback, and it is something he is enjoying.

“Whenever I get on scout team, that’s my gameday,” Sanders told cleveland.com. “Everybody knows. So that’s me having a game every week. I look at it, I have six games a week, so I’m happy rather than just having one game a week, on the weekends. The scout team receivers, all of us, we all know every day is gameday and we definitely approach everything in that fashion.”

Sanders is looking to show off enough to eventually earn a start or playing time in the near future.
