With a winter storm hitting a large portion of the United States, fans are curious about the today’s weather forecast for the NFL games with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Could there be snow in either the Patriots-Broncos or Rams-Seahawks games?
One appears to be more likely than the other. The greater Denver area is preparing for some snow on Sunday, January 25, but it will mostly be towards the evening.
Seattle is known for having less than ideal weather, but fans could see the sun peak out before the game with no snow or rain in the forecast for the NFC Championship.
Here’s what you need to know about the weather forecast for today’s NFL conference championship games.
Is It Going to Snow or Rain During Today’s NFL Playoff Games Between the Patriots-Broncos & Rams-Seahawks?
Fans, especially those watching from the comfort of their own home, love a good snow game. Could football fans be treated to a snow game in the AFC or NFC Championship?
The best chance of a snow game is in the AFC Championship between the Patriots and Broncos. Denver’s weather forecast is projecting snow by the end of the game.
Rain is not forecasted in Seattle ahead of the Rams-Seahawks matchup.
Patriots vs. Broncos Weather Forecast: Snow Projected in Denver During the AFC Championship
When the Patriots-Broncos game kicks off at 3 p.m. Eastern, the temperature is forecasted to be 25 degrees, but it will feel like a much colder 16 degrees for the players and fans, per Weather Underground. While no snow is projected at kickoff, there is an increasing chance for powder by the end of the game.
Snow is predicted to begin falling around 6 p.m. Eastern with a 53% chance of precipitation. This number increases to 83% at 7 p.m. Eastern when the snow is expected to fall even more, but the AFC Championship could already be over by this point.
Denver’s snow window is forecasted between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, meaning a good portion of the AFC Championship may take place without snow. If the Patriots-Broncos game goes into overtime, fans could see the AFC’s Super Bowl representative decided amid a winter wonderland.
Rams vs. Seahawks Weather Forecast: Sun, Not Rain, Is Surprisingly in Seattle’s Forecast for NFC Championship
Seattle’s signature grey and rain is expected to be noticeably absent for the NFC Championship. Fans could be treated to some rare Pacific Northwest winter sun at kickoff.
Seattle’s forecast at kickoff is 43 degrees with only a 1% chance of rain. Overall, the majority of the Rams-Seahawks game is forecasted to take place with partly cloudy weather.
There may not be snow or rain in the forecast, but it will still be cold during the NFC Championship. During the second half of the Rams-Seahawks game, it is likely to be about 38 degrees in Seattle.
Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald’s Weather Prediction for NFC Championship May Need Updated
Ahead of the NFC Championship, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is going viral after an old speech resurfaced. The Seahawks released footage of Macdonald’s first speech to the team in 2024.
Macdonald predicted Seattle would reach the NFC Championship. The Seahawks coach also offered a bit of a weather forecast predicting, “it’s 30-something degrees… wet, it’s windy.” It does not appear that the Seattle weather will quite live up to Macdonald’s prediction.
“It’s 30-something degrees, all right, it’s wet, it’s windy,” Macdonald predicted back in 2024. “All right, it’s (expletive) for them, okay, but it’s just right for us. We’re loose. We’re focused. We’re confident. We just spent the last nine months stacking every opportunity that we had to put us in that position,” Macdonald added.
“The team across from us in the other locker room, okay, they’ve seen the tape. They know what they’re in for. Eleven guys playing as one every snap. They know that we’re like that.”
