The Houston Texans are back on the practice field in training camp, but they are without former fifth-round draft pick and tight end Brevin Jordan.
Jordan has battled injuries throughout his career, including missing the entire 2025 season due to an injury he picked up during the offseason program. Despite that, the Texans re-upped with him during the campaign, underscoring what they think of him as a player.
That makes his status a noteworthy storyline as training camp rolls on.

That Jordan was not on the practice field when the Texans began drew attention, and the explanation followed soon after.
“#Texans TE Brevin Jordan is out for practice today as a precautionary measure, per a source,” the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan M. Alexander reported on X on August 7. “He’s dealing with a minor injury and won’t miss much time.”
Jordan was the 147th overall pick of the 2021 draft.
Unfortunately, he has only played in 36 of 85 possible games with the Texans so far. He has caught 53 passes for 532 yards and 5 touchdowns in his four seasons on the field.
The 26-year-old was also one of the stars of the Texans’ offseason program. That bolstered the team’s faith in him to this point. Jordan is signed through the 2026 season, making it imperative that he get healthy and back on the practice field in short order.

The Texans are built to withstand Jordan’s absence. They navigated last season in a similar situation. They also retooled their room behind starter Dalton Schultz, signing Foster Moreau and drafting Marlin Klein, adding them to a room that also includes former pick Cade Stover.
Nevertheless, the Texans clearly still have hope that Jordan will be a contributor for them.
In that sense, it is a noteworthy setback. Even if this new issue will not cost Jordan much time, he has missed a lot already.
Despite his strong offseason, he still figured to have an uphill climb toward a significant role in the Texans’ offense. As deep as the room is, and given that he is on an expiring contract, Jordan could be fighting for a roster spot.
