Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts have shocked the NFL world amidst their 3-0 start to the 2025 season. A team that was looking like it may be in a re-tooling year has feature one of the best offenses in the league through three weeks, led at the helm by none other than “Indiana Jones.”
After a thorough dismantling of the Tennessee Titans in week three, the Colts have the second-most efficient offense in the NFL, only trailing the Buffalo Bills. Indianapolis is averaging 34.3 points per game with 1,256 yards from scrimmage, good for well over 400 per game.
Jones has the third most passing yards in the NFL at 816, only behind Justin Herbert and Geno Smith, and hasn’t thrown an interception yet. With a deep skill room featuring Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren, to name a few, Jones has set the Colts on an unforeseen path.
Jones Speaks On Offensive Efficiency
Jones spoke to the media following the Colts 41-20 win over Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.
“I think we certainly expect to play at a high level,” Jones said. “I think every time we step out there, every time we get the ball, we expect to execute and get down the field and score. I don’t think the expectation changes at any point regardless of how it’s going.”
A humble Jones remarked on his offense’s shortcomings, of which there have been few to start the season.
“There’s still things we’ve got to clean up and work on,” Jones said. “I think [there were] some missed opportunities, some things weren’t as sharp as they should’ve been. We’ll get back, look at them and clean it up.”
Whatever needs to be cleaned up has clearly not been anything to the detriment of the offense so far. If we’re only seeing an unfinished product with Jones and the offense on the field, Indianapolis could very well be a world-beater that shocks the NFL with one of the most surprising successful seasons in recent memory.
Jones’ Woes As A Giant Seem To Be In His Past
Daniel Jones spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants, as the leader of an abysmal football team where he looked completely overwhelmed nearly every time he was on the field. As he signed with the Colts in the offense, the move seemed to be lateral at best for Indianapolis.
Clearly, the Colts saw something in the former first round pick that he didn’t show in New York as Jones has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL nearly a month into the season.
In his time as a starter in New York, Jones led the team to a record of 24-44-1, throwing 70 touchdown passes and 47 interceptions, a very poor ratio. He was coming off of two abysmal, injury-riddled seasons in 2023 and 2024, where in 16 games he completed only 10 touchdown passes while throwing 13 picks.
It seemed like Jones’ career was heading towards irrelevancy, but now it seems as though all he needed was a breath of fresh air in Indianapolis.
