Smith was able to play through his triceps contusion but put up unsurprisingly underwhelming numbers against the suffocating 49ers defense. Smith was relatively efficient overall, but he took six sacks and was only able to connect with top targets DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett a combined six times for 62 yards. The veteran signal-caller saw his streak of games with a touchdown pass end at two games, and Thursday marked his fourth sub-200-yard tally of the campaign. Smith's arm should be healthier for a Week 13 road matchup against the Cowboys next Thursday night.

Struggles in tough matchup

Smith was able to play through his triceps contusion but put up unsurprisingly underwhelming numbers against the suffocating 49ers defense. Smith was relatively efficient overall, but he took six sacks and was only able to connect with top targets DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett a combined six times for 62 yards. The veteran signal-caller saw his streak of games with a touchdown pass end at two games, and Thursday marked his fourth sub-200-yard tally of the campaign. Smith's arm should be healthier for a Week 13 road matchup against the Cowboys next Thursday night.
Active in Week 12

During this past Sunday's loss at the Rams, Smith missed the final snap of the third quarter and most of the fourth quarter due to a right elbow injury. The official diagnosis was revealed to be a bruise to the tendon on the bottom of his right triceps by coach Pete Carroll on Monday, and Smith proceeded to be listed as DNP/LP/FP during Week 12 prep. Carroll relayed to Colin Gunther of the Seahawks' official site Wednesday that Smith was "ready to go" for Thursday's game, and now that has been confirmed. Smith thus will take aim at San Francisco's 15th-ranked pass defense (221.4 yards per game).
Likely to play Thursday

Official word Smith's status won't come until the Seahawks release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, but all indications are that that the quarterback will be cleared to start, despite tending to a triceps contusion on his throwing arm on a short week. Smith was able to return to this past Sunday's loss to the Rams after exiting for a spell when he was hit in the right arm by defensive tackle Aaron Donald, and he created more optimism about his health by taking part in Tuesday's walk-through session as a limited participant. Even if Smith is cleared to start the Week 12 contest as anticipated, he may not make for an especially appealing fantasy option, given that he probably won't be 100 percent healthy and will be facing off against a talented San Francisco front seven.
Status in question for Thursday

Smith took a big hit from Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald on the second-to-last play of the third quarter in Sunday's loss in Los Angeles, but he was able to return for the Seahawks' final possession, leading them into position for a potential game-winning field goal from Jason Myers. The kick was missed, and Smith proceeded to be listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice report. He mixed into drills as a limited participant at Tuesday's walk-through session and now has a chance to play Thursday. Both the quarterback and head coach Pete Carroll have seemed optimistic about Smith's chances to suit up Week 12, but Smith's availability won't be confirmed until Seattle releases its inactive list approximately 90 minutes before the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. If Smith isn't available, Drew Lock will lead Seattle's offense.
Bumps up to limited Tuesday

After opening Week 12 prep with a listed DNP on Monday, Smith was able to mix into drills one day later as he deals with a bruise to the tendon on the bottom of his right triceps that he sustained Sunday versus the Rams. Officially, the Seahawks are calling it a right elbow injury, and the quarterback told Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times on Tuesday that he feels "a little bit better after a couple of days," and that his availability Thursday against the 49ers is "up to coach (Pete Carroll)." Per Brady Henderson of ESPN.com, Carroll seems optimistic of Smith's chances to play Week 12, but it may not be confirmed until closer to Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
Listed as DNP on Monday

Smith was on the receiving end of a hard hit from Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald on Sunday that sent him to the sideline late in the third quarter through the Seahawks' final offensive possession, when he led the team into L.A. territory, only for Seattle kicker Jason Myers to miss a game-winning 55-yard field goal. Afterward, coach Pete Carroll told Boyle that Smith suffered a bruised elbow, but it was clarified Monday as a bruise to the tendon on the bottom of his triceps, as Carroll told Brady Henderson of ESPN.com. Carroll does expect Smith to be able to suit up Thursday against the 49ers, but he may not get any practice reps until Wednesday, at the earliest, Carroll told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. If Smith is unable to go, though, Drew Lock would handle QB duties for the Seahawks.
Optimism for Thursday

Smith suffered a contusion to the tendon at the bottom of his triceps on his right arm, per Henderson, but he's expected to play through the issue Week 12. Any negative impact to Smith's accuracy against San Francisco's stout defense could, of course, prove significant, especially on a short week. As such, it will be worth monitoring Smith's status closely in practice.
Dealing with elbow bruise

Smith injured his elbow late in Sunday's contest, but he re-entered the game after backup Drew Lock threw an interception in his stead. The veteran starter made a valiant effort to get his team into field-goal range before kicker Jason Myers missed the attempt from 55 yards out. Smith finished the game completing 22 of 34 pass attempts for 233 yards and a touchdown. It sounds like Smith avoided a major injury to his throwing elbow, but his status is still uncertain for Week 11 with the Seahawks scheduled to face the 49ers on Thursday Night Football. If Smith isn't deemed ready following Seattle's upcoming short week of practice, then Lock would get the starting nod against San Francisco's revamped pass rush Thursday.
Returns to game versus Rams

Smith exited in the third quarter after taking a hit from Aaron Donald. Drew Lock finished that drive and played two more possessions, the last of which ended in an interception, before Smith returned to the game with 1:31 remaining in the fourth quarter and Seattle trailing 17-16.
