The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into one of the most important games of their season. Still, Brittany Mahomes is making it clear she’s standing firmly behind her husband, quarterback Patrick Mahomes. As Kansas City prepares for a must-win Week 14 matchup against the Houston Texans, Brittany is responding to the growing criticism surrounding the team’s uneven year — and her message is short, sharp, and impossible to misinterpret.
The Chiefs, who have appeared in four of the last five Super Bowls, enter Week 14 with a surprising 6–6 record. A loss to Houston would deal a serious blow to their playoff chances, while a win would dramatically increase their postseason probability from 34% to 64%. With the pressure mounting, questions about Mahomes’ performance have been louder than usual.
And Brittany? She’s not having it.
Brittany Mahomes Responds to Patrick Mahomes’ Critics — with an Assist From Kevin Durant
During a recent appearance on “Up & Adams,” two-time NBA Finals champion Kevin Durant defended Mahomes against critics who questioned his legacy after a difficult stretch this season.
“What kind of a question is that? That makes no sense at all,” Durant said. “If anybody is questioning Pat Mahomes’ legacy from a one-off year, he can miss the playoffs for the rest of his career — I don’t give a damn. This man is Patrick Mahomes.”
Durant continued, “How many championships does he have? Three? Come on now. Are we really going to question Pat Mahomes, Chris Jones, Travis Kelce? He’s still an all-time great, potentially the greatest of all time.”
Brittany, who frequently supports her husband publicly, saw the clip on Instagram and offered a direct response:
“Let them know,” she wrote.
The message comes at a pivotal moment. The Chiefs face the league’s No. 1 ranked defense, led by Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, and must do so with a depleted offensive line.
Patrick, however, has kept ground amid the scrutiny. During his weekly interview on 96.5 The Fan, he praised Brittany for maintaining stability amid a hectic season marked by holiday scheduling chaos.
“Having a great wife helps out a ton,” he said. “Her being able to handle the other extracurricular stuff I can’t be there for… getting the family settled. I was able to spend Thanksgiving with them because we played on Thursday. That part was cool.”
Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes Address the Chiefs’ Playoff Push
Despite their record, head coach Andy Reid emphasized that the Chiefs remain very much alive in the postseason race.
“You’re in the month of December and you’re still in it — so let’s go,” Reid told reporters. “I’m big on reality. What’s real? Why are we where we are? What can we do to fix it?”
Reid also stressed the need for improved chemistry between Mahomes and his receivers — several of whom have battled injuries this season.
For Kelce, the team’s issues come down to just a few plays.
“We’re a few plays away from being a one-seed in my mind,” Kelce said on “New Heights.” “All the losses are within one score… we’re this [expletive] close.”
Mahomes echoed the urgency:
“I’m always talking to coach,” he said. “How do we get better? How do we make a run? At the end of the day, they’re going to put us in the best situation to succeed.”
Kansas City hosts Houston on Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs historically hold a major advantage — and where a win could change everything.
