Patrick Mahomes Sr. will be able to attend a major family milestone this summer after receiving court approval to travel out of state to visit his son, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for an adorable family event.
According to court records obtained by The California Post, a Smith County judge granted the former Major League Baseball pitcher permission to travel from Texas to Missouri from June 5 through June 7 to watch his granddaughter, Sterling Mahomes, perform in her first dance recital.
The approval comes while Mahomes Sr. continues serving probation stemming from a 2024 guilty plea related to a third DWI charge.

Court documents show the travel request was approved under specific conditions.
According to the judge’s order, Mahomes Sr. must report to his probation officer on June 4 for urinalysis testing and continue reporting as scheduled after returning from the trip.
In the filing requesting permission, Mahomes Sr.’s attorney stated that his client has remained compliant with the terms of his probation.
“[Mahomes Sr.] is current on his community service restitution and has 26.25 hours of his 160 hours remaining,” the attorney wrote.
The filing also outlined the progress Mahomes Sr. has made while on probation.
“The probationer is constantly monitored on his SCRAM device. Further, the probationer continues to attend his treatment/counseling program with Cenikor and is on track to graduate on June 2, 2026,” the attorney stated.
“He has had no issues with drug and alcohol testing and continues to remain on top of all his requirements of probation.”
Mahomes Sr. was originally sentenced to five years of probation in 2024 after being accused of driving while intoxicated in Tyler, Texas, shortly before Super Bowl LVIII.
According to reports, his probation was later extended from five years to seven years in March 2026 following allegations that he violated probation conditions on New Year’s Day.
Sterling Mahomes Recently Shared a Sweet Tribute to Her Dad
The upcoming recital will give Mahomes Sr. an opportunity to celebrate a special moment with his granddaughter.
Sterling, the oldest child of Patrick and Kansas City Current co-owner Brittany Mahomes, recently shared some heartfelt thoughts about her father.
On June 1, Brittany posted an “All About My Dad” worksheet completed by Sterling on social media.
The form revealed that Sterling believes her father is “the best.”
According to the worksheet, Patrick’s favorite activity is to “watch sports,” while his favorite food is “ketchup and hamburgers.”
Sterling also shared that one of the phrases her father says most often is, “You can do it!”
The worksheet listed several reasons she loves her dad, including that he gives the “best hugs” and encourages her to finish her food.
Patrick Mahomes Continues Recovery Ahead of Chiefs Season
The family milestone comes as Patrick Mahomes continues preparing for the upcoming NFL season.
The Chiefs quarterback recently returned to organized team activities as part of his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers last season.
In a video shared by the Chiefs and the NFL on Instagram, Mahomes was seen throwing passes during the team’s first OTAs of the season.
The workout marked another step forward as he prepares for the 2026 season.
Along with Sterling, Mahomes Sr. is also the grandfather of Patrick and Brittany’s younger children, Bronze and Golden.
