The Las Vegas Raiders fell to 2-12 on the 2025 NFL season as Year 1 under Pete Carroll continues to go off the rails. Moreover, it was the second time this campaign the Silver and Black have been shut out after their 31-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on December 14 at Lincoln Financial Field.

With the Raiders’ losing streak going to eight games, tension appears to be boiling over. Las Vegas’ offense continues to struggle, and the defense isn’t performing any better. However, Carroll is defending his group, noting that despite their record, there’s no quit in this team.

“These guys fought their a– off,” Carroll said after another shutout loss. “They fought their a– off. That was the result. They didn’t stop fighting. That was the result of our play right there. I have a lot of respect for the roster we just played against, and maybe they didn’t look like it in the last couple of weeks or whatever, but they played like they were capable, and we couldn’t stop.”

The Eagles Were Simply Better Than the Raiders in Week 15

Philadelphia entered this contest on a three-game losing streak. Nonetheless, they didn’t allow themselves to fall further and took advantage of a Raiders team that is trying to get the season over with.

Jalen Hurts only made 15 pass attempts, but going at half-speed was all that the Eagles needed. Hurts ended up throwing three touchdown passes while Saquon Barkley ran for 78 yards and one touchdown.

As a result, Carroll believes that Philadelphia was simply the better team than the two-win Raiders, which led to the shutout scoreline.

“I think we got beat,” Carroll added. “This is a very well-loaded team, and they just did their thing today, both sides of the ball, and they really took it to us. We couldn’t stop their offense, and they got off the field [on] third down. A couple of penalties got in our way, and they were able to do what they needed to do.

“They ran for a bunch. They threw really highly efficient stuff that wasn’t taxing for them. We couldn’t make it hard on them, and we couldn’t get out of our way on offense. We couldn’t get yards. So that third downs and all that, I don’t think it’s some big psychic change that took place. I think we just got whipped by a really loaded football team that on this day had their way.”

Raiders Are Limping Toward the End of the 2025 Season

The Raiders have three games left in the season against the Houston Texans, New York Giants, and Kansas City Chiefs. There’s a chance that the team could lose out, which would be ideal for the race to win the No. 1 pick and potentially have their eye on Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Moreover, the contest against the Giants in Week 17 could prove crucial as to who ends up with the top pick. A loss to New York could put the Raiders in a position to finish dead last, or a win could put them at risk of falling outside the top two slots.
