The Miami Dolphins got one of the biggest reality checks of their season so far when Tyreek Hill went down in the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the New York Jets.

Hill had to be carted off the field, although he smiled and seemingly remained in good spirits throughout the process.

However, information revealed later by Mike McDaniel showed that he had a dislocated knee, any injury that tends to have a recovery timeline of around 3-6 months, meaning that the 31 year old could likely miss the rest of the season, especially in the more-than-probable event that Miami misses the playoffs.

And running back, De’Von Achane, speaking after the game in his media availability, shared his mixed emotions about both coming out with a win – in which he ran for a 99 yards and a touchdown – and losing his teammate for an extended period of time.

“I’m praying for him man,” Achane said to the media after the game, “For him to put his body on the line – because that was on third down and he got the first. When I saw him he was still happy and talking to everyone – he was smiling. He was still making jokes – I’m like, “bro you just got hurt.”

Achane emphasized how given Hill put his body on the line for the team, the Dolphins have a duty to go out and keep winning and finish the job – which they did today against the Jets, and finally broke their winless deadlock for the 2025 season.

What Will The Dolphins’ Offense Look Like Without Hill?

Hill remains the team’s leading receiver – for the time being – with 265 yards and 1 touchdown. Stats that, unfortunately, will not have much added to them prior to the end of the season.

In his stead, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will look to former first round pick, Jaylen Waddle as his new lead receiver, who has had a lukewarm start to the season to the tune of just 17 receptions for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The expectation will be that both Waddle and 2024 sixth round pick, Malik Washington, will pick up the slack and receive more targets, although the team may look to trade for another veteran in the near future in order to add more viable faces in the receiver room.

The good news is that the team saw a big step up from tight end, Darren Waller, who managed two touchdowns against the Jets, and who will need to be active in the offense if the Dolphins are to remain competent on that side of the ball.

McDaniel may also use Achane and fellow backs, Ollie Gordon and Jaylen Wright, more in the passing game to compensate.

But Tyreek Hill is certainly the focal point of the offense, and losing him will certainly impact the dynamic and balance of the passing attack for the rest of the season.
