Minnesota Vikings team captain and Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard was among the many prominent voices that has spoken out in response to Rondale Moore’s death.

On Saturday, February 21, police in New Albany, Indiana, told The Associated Press that Moore was found in a garage with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to ESPN. He was 25 years old.

The news of Moore’s death struck many across the NFL. Moore was rehabbing from a season-ending left knee injury he sustained during the 2025 preseason after he missed the entire 2024 season with a right knee injury.

As several former NFLers revealed the isolation that injuries can cause when playing at the highest level of sports, Greenard sent the NFL a strong message.

Reacting to a post from Las Vegas Raiders safety Jamal Adams that addressed the problems with fans and media labeling players as “injury prone,” Greenard took it a step further, addressing the backlash many players receive on social media.

“[People] legit will say the most craziest things tryna be funny on this app. Then turn around wondering why the players mentals are COOKED. Players see ALL the tweets just like yall do bc WE ARE HUMAN JUST LIKE YALL. Algorithms will flood your page w BS that other ppl try to bring you down with,” Greenard wrote.

“This isn’t all on the media but they play a part. Especially these bot pages. Use that block button and go pray for clarity on your identity fellas. We got too much life to live than to succumb to the negativity in our most vulnerable periods of time.”

Greenard also reposted a message from former Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko that detailed the dilemma players have with sharing their mental health challenges with their current teams.

From Fehoko’s X post:

Imma keep it a stack.. I don’t care, I’m retired I’ll say what I want. These NFL teams come out here and post these mental health awareness posts talking about they care about players “don’t be afraid to reach out”etc. All they care about is what you bring to the table when it’s game day. Most players don’t wanna get help inside the building of an NFL organization because they know you’ll get looked at differently. You go to a staff member tell em you struggling watch how different they start treating and looking at you. I seen it first hand.. I’ll start believing they care about player health when the Owner, GM, & head coach treat everyone on that roster the same from the franchise QB to the janitor. Until then don’t tell me they care cause they posted some hotline number when shit like this happens. I’m here for any of my brothers that just wanna talk and shoot the shit. I love y’all. I care about y’all. I’m here for y’all.

Vikings CB, Fellow Cardinals Draftee Byron Murphy Jr. Sends Message After Rondale Moore’s Death

A 2019 second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals, Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. had spent arguably the most time with Moore of any teammate in Minnesota.

Murphy made a post on his Instagram account, sharing a photo Moore posted from his draft day with the caption: “Tell your people you love them. [Expletive] hurting bro. Ain’t got too much words [right now].”
