Jonathan Greenard is neither gone from the Minnesota Vikings or forgotten by other NFL franchises in need of a pass-rusher, and his trade market is heating up again just days before the draft.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday, April 20 that the Philadelphia Eagles have reemerged as trade suitors for the 2024 Pro Bowler.
“One possibility is adding Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard, whom the Eagles have checked in on at various points this offseason, per sources,” Schefter wrote. “The Vikings have been adamant about getting a premium Day 2 pick for Greenard. Philadelphia holds pick Nos. 54, 68 and 98 on Day 2 this year.”
Jonathan Greenard Has Proven Elite Pass-Rusher Based on Analytics Over Past Two Seasons

Greenard posted a 23.3 percent pass rush win rate last season, amassing 47 quarterback pressures, 35 hurries, eight hits, four sacks and a forced fumble in just 270 pass rush snaps played across 12 games, per Pro Football Focus.
PFF graded Greenard as the 31st-best edge defender out of 115 such players who saw enough snaps in 2025 to qualify for a ranking.
The year prior, his first in Minnesota, Greenard was third in the league in pressures with 80 total and first in hurries with 59, based on PFF’s calculations. Pro Football Reference credited Greenard with 18 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and three pass breakups that year.
The former Houston Texans pass-rusher is entering his seventh campaign in the league, which he will play at the age of 29, and is looking for a significant raise over the final two seasons of his four-year, $76 million contract — and presumably an extension as well.
Philadelphia lost edge defender Jaelan Phillips to the Carolina Panthers in free agency and is certain to replace him either via a trade, free agency or the draft.
Greenard’s statistics and current pay scale can offer good value in exchange for a mid-to-late second-round pick and a modest pay bump/short extension — assuming Philadelphia likes his health outlook after shoulder surgery cost him five games in 2025 and believes he can continue producing like he has since joining the Vikings in 2024.
Vikings Have Replacement for Jonathan Greenard on Roster in Recent 1st-Round Pick Dallas Turner

Judd Zulgad of SKOR Sports predicted last week that the Vikings will ultimately move Greenard either before, during or shortly after the draft, which runs from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday April 25.
Zulgad also expects Minnesota will do so for a second-round pick, even if a significant portion of the fan base will cry foul believing the edge-rusher should bring back a first-round asset in trade.
“I think they take a second-round pick, because I don’t think they wanna pay him,” Zulgad said. “He does not make much right now, and I don’t know that the Vikings wanna make a major investment.”
Minnesota has 2024 first-round pick Dallas Turner waiting in the wings, who they can elevate into a starting role alongside Andrew Van Ginkel once Greenard is gone.
Turner tallied 15 QB hits, 11 tackles for loss, eight sacks, four forced fumbles and three pass breakups during his second pro campaign, in which he appeared in all 17 games and earned 10 starts. Turner also produced 42 QB pressures and 27 hurries.
