The NFL season is going strong, and the Minnesota Vikings are 2-1 following totally demolishing the Cincinnati Bengals, 48-10. What’s wild is that the Vikings even put in their final-stringers and played undrafted, free agent quarterback Max Brosmer in the final minutes of the game. He must have been thrilled to be given the chance to play so early in the season.
Even the official Bengals website sang the praises of the Vikings following the game, noting in a postgame piece, “The Vikings stunned the Bengals in the first half with four turnovers, two returned for touchdowns by cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, while posting a 48-10 win Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.” They also acknowledged that Will Reichard scored a 62-yard field goal for the longest field goal in Vikings history.
With so much goodness happening on the field, it would make sense that Vikings fans would want to catch the action. But, that didn’t quite happen for those watching from home.
CBS Makes Controversial Decision on Minnesota Vikings Game
In the fourth quarter, the Minnesota Vikings were beating Bengals by so much that CBS decided to switch the game to more “exciting” games. That was even the case for viewers in the Minnesota area, according to local viewers on X.
The life of a Minnesota Vikings fan: My team is destroying the Bengals and @CBSSports makes the decision to stop broadcasting the game and moves to a more ‘competitive’ game. Of course they did that,” one commenter said on X. “Took the words right out of my mouth,” another said.
Another commented that his “Vikings game was on my local CBS affiliate and was switched due to the score of the game.” Another said, “CBS pulling the Vikings game in favor of a more competitive matchup. Nobody asked for this. Sincerely Vikings fans everywhere.
“CBS just did that thing where they switched games at the half and now I’m stuck with Steelers/Pats instead of the Vikings and this has ruined my entire afternoon…” another added.
One Minnesota Vikings Player Really Stands Out
There’s no denying that Minnesota’s Isaiah Rodgers had an incredible day on the field. Rodgers alone did enough scoring to beat the Bengals via his 87-yard interception returned for a touchdown, and later the fumble recovery he punched out of tight end Noah Fant’s hands and returned 66 yards for a touchdown,” the Cincinnati Enquired noted in a Sunday, September 21 feature. They also named Rodgers their player of the game.
“Rogers would also force a fumble that Minnesota recovered when he knocked the ball out of Ja’Marr Chase’s hands,” they added in the feature. Rogers became the first player in NFL history with a pick-6, a fumble returned for a touchdown and two forced fumbles in a single game.” They also gave the Bengals a few props, saying that “on a day when almost nothing went well for Cincinnati, Kris Jenkins Jr. had 1.5 sacks.
So, it was a blowout victory for the Minnesota Vikings. Hopefully networks will decide to air the rest of their games to completion no matter what’s happening on the field.
