Drake Maye has only been in the league for a short amount of time, but the New England Patriots quarterback has certainly gotten everyone’s attention.
The second-year quarterback is in the running for league MVP, with the chants following him wherever he goes. And he added yet another impressive accomplishment to his resume on Sunday afternoon, further cementing himself in franchise history.
In the first quarter, Maye connected with rookie wide receiver Efton Chism for a 30-yard gain that officially put him over the 4,000-yard passing mark. And with that, he joined Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe as the only quarterbacks in franchise history to reach this mark.
It’s been a good week for Maye, who, earlier this week, learned that he was named to the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive season. That put him on another historic list, becoming the fourth quarterback in NFL history to start his career with consecutive Pro Bowl selections, joining Andrew Luck (2012-14), Russell Wilson (2012-15), and Dan Marino (1983-87).
Stefon Diggs Makes Highlight Catch Against Jets
Mossed!
That’s the only way to describe Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ impressive catch in the first quarter where he jumped up and made a 31 yard grab over Jets defensive back Qwan’tez Stiggers. And while it happened along the sidelines, Diggs made the extra effort, getting two feet down before falling out of bounds.
MassLive’s Mark Daniels also pointed out that Diggs also etched himself in franchise history, becoming the first wide receiver to eclipse the 900-yard mark for the Patriots since Julian Edelman in 2019.
Stefon Diggs Earns $500K Contract Bonus

GettyStefon Diggs #8 of the New England Patriots celebrates with teammates after scoring a second quarter touchdown against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on December 28, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
It was a very good day for Diggs who had an impressive catch along with a touchdown that came with an added bonus.
Coming into the game, Diggs was at 76 catches this season, needing 80 to earn a $500,000 contract bonus. That left him only needing four receptions against the Jets. And he got them all, with his fourth coming on a touchdown pass in the first half.
Diggs came into this season after tearing his ACL midway in the 2024 season, with many unsure if he could return to his level of production before the injury. He has proved that he can still play with the best of them, becoming one of Maye’s favorite and most reliable targets.
“You have no idea what he means to this team,” Maye told reporters earlier this week. “He’s a leader. He’s been great in the locker room. He wants the football in his hand and deservingly so. He just keeps showing up and making plays. He’s doing it at a really high level. He’s just bouncing back and vocal and he’s awesome to play with.”
Diggs can also earn another $500,000 if he crosses the 1,000-yard mark, needing 131 yards coming into Sunday’s matchup against the Jets. And through just the first half, he had already reached 101 yards on six catches.
