The New England Patriots continue to defy the odds during their incredible 2025 NFL season for the storied franchise, as they were able to advance to Super Bowl LX with a second-year quarterback in Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel‘s first year coaching the team, having won three Super Bowls as a player under legendary head coach Bill Belichick.
There’s no doubt the Patriots will have to be on their game offensively on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area, as they face the formidable defense of the Seattle Seahawks, with both the ground game and passing attack being crucial to the team’s success.

During the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos, the Patriots had to lean on veteran running back Rhamondre Stevenson because the weather conditions worsened throughout the game.
Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson talked about Stevenson’s performance against the Broncos and how he did a great job of getting the “tough and dirty yards” to help secure the win in Denver and punch their ticket to Super Bowl LX.
“It was crazy with all the weather changes and how quick it turned around,” Henderson said. “I think Rhamondre just did a great job of just, honestly, putting his team on his back, taking on that load and just getting downhill and trying to get those tough and dirty yards and the offensive line fighting up front and the tight ends and all those guys, even the receivers coming in.
“I feel like as an offensive collective, I feel like they did a good job of just fighting.”
Henderson also expressed his happiness for Stevenson getting to the Super Bowl, given everything he’s been through over the past year, and how the veteran has helped the rookie during his first season in the NFL.
“Really happy,” Henderson said of Stevenson. “Just knowing the things that he went through, not just on the field but off the field as well. Just the way he carries himself, the way he cares about this team. It means a lot to me just seeing how he goes about being a professional. I’ve been able to learn so much and pick up so much from him. So it’s great to have a vet in the room like Rhamondre.”
Mike Vrabel on Preparing to Face Seahawks QB Sam Darnold

Heading into Super Bowl LX, the Patriots’ defense will focus its efforts on containing Sam Darnold and the Seahawks’ passing game, as the last thing they want to see is superstar wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba putting up numbers.
Vrabel shared his thoughts with his team ahead of their Feb. 8 matchup against Darnold.
“We haven’t watched every game that they’ve played this year yet,” Vrabel said of the Seahawks. “So, there will be things that we’ll try to watch and see. I mean, again, it’ll be important that we’re sound. He’s been very efficient. Again, everybody’s journey is different, so you give him a lot of credit for the places that he’s been and how he’s learned and grown. He’s certainly making the most of his opportunity now.”
The key to victory for Vrabel and company may very well be containing Darnold and the Seahawks’ offense, while Mike Macdonald‘s squad will be focusing on doing the same against Maye.
