The New England Patriots will headline their first primetime game of the 2025 season in Week 5 against AFC East rival, the Buffalo Bills.
“I think you certainly better enjoy it – better enjoy playing in Primetime games. And that’s something that we’re trying to prepare for right now,” head coach Mike Vrabel said before the Week 5 matchup, via the Patriots website. “I think that certainly it will be a huge challenge. The last time they lost at home was 14 games ago. We’re well aware of that and have to do a lot of really good things to give ourselves a chance.”
“They’re playing good football, they’re playing clean football, they’re not beating themselves and they’re doing a nice job in all phases.”
The undefeated Bills will be the toughest matchup for the Patriots this season. This will be New England’s second AFC East game this season and will need to win to stay competitive in the division.
The Week 5 road game marks the first time a player on the Patriots will return to Buffalo since the 2023-24 season.
Stefon Diggs Return To Buffalo

The Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills will mark the first time Stefon Diggs returns to Buffalo after having a falling out with the organization.
The NFL website analyst Mark Ross drops a bold prediction ahead of Diggs’ return to Orchard Park.
“Stefon Diggs makes a splash in his return to Buffalo,” Ross wrote.
As a player, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was 16-2 versus the Bills. He brings that magic — with the help of a Stefon Diggs revenge game — to Buffalo on Sunday night, serving up an upset of the undefeated Bills. Drake Maye earns a signature victory, outdueling Josh Allen, while Diggs torches his former team for two touchdowns.”
The wide receiver signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans and faced off against the Bills last season, but the game was played in Houston. In the game against Buffalo, Diggs logged 82 yards on six catches.
Diggs On His Return

Despite having a rough exit with the Buffalo Bills, Stefon Diggs appears to be in good heart with his return to his former home.
“To me, obviously, it’s a little sentimental. I spent a lot of time there,” Diggs said. “I’m real familiar with the staff, familiar with the guys there. The guys that I’ve maintained a relationship with, I’m looking forward to seeing them play. It’s going to be a little bit emotional.”
“I try to keep the main thing the main thing, but it’s my first time back there. It’s going to be a hell of an atmosphere. I was a part of that for a long time. I played there before I got there. So, I’m excited.”
Diggs had his best game as a member of the New England Patriots in Week 4, logging 101 receiving yards on 6 catches.
If Diggs continues to progress with the Patriots offense, he could have a good game against his former team.
