New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner catches a six game suspension from the NFL league office. While the current reason for the suspension in unknown, suspensions for performance enhancing drugs start at four games. They increase to six games when there is an attempted manipulation.
Regardless, Rechsteiner entered today as a long shot to make the roster, and this situation will obviously not help his case. However, he still will be able to participate in training camp and preseason games. If he survives roster cuts when NFL teams trim to 53 players, then his suspension will trigger.
With the recent season ending injury to Bryan Bresee and the careeer retirement of Ja’Lynn Polk, the Saints can just let this situation play out as they already have empty roster spots to fill.
Rechsteiner played college football for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. He originally started as a tight end before moving to wide receiver. After being undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, he signed with the New Orleans Saints. Its also worth nothing he is the son of professional WWE wrestler Scott Steiner.

Rechsteiner was not a highly touted prospect coming into the 2026 NFL Draft.
Coming into the NFL Draft, Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranked Rechsteiner as the 159th best wide receiver in the class. At Jacksonville State, he produced 629 yards and 7 touchdowns in three seasons of play.
The Saints allowed Rechsteiner to participate in rookie minicamp, where he impressed the coaching staff. They then signed him to a deal to remain with the team for the rest of the offseason. He still has a chance to make the 53-man roster, but his odds of doing so now have dropped extremely with this suspension.
In May, Rechsteiner said that he aims to go to the WWE after his football career is over. His cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner, signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 also an undrafted free agent, but he failed to make the 53-man roster. He now works in the WWE as Bron Breakker.
Suspension Adds Twist to Potential Underdog Story
Rechsteiner had an uphill battle to make the Saints roster anyway. If he overcomes this suspension, it will only give him confidence moving forward.
Rechsteiner has been an underdog his entire life in terms of football. When he enrolled at Jacksonville State, he entered the football team as a preferred walk-on after high school. Eventually, he became a starter and earned a scholarship.
He said, “Now I’m here pretty much doing the same thing.”
While his confidence is admirable, his chances of making the roster at this point are very slim. The NFL does not compare to Jacksonville State. Plus, Rechsteiner’s production leaves a lot to be desired. Although, he seems like a tremendous athlete and has some great abilities.
That being said, he will have to prove himself to a significant degree throughout the rest of the offseason. If he cannot, it seems possible he will join the rest of his family in the WWE.
