The New York Giants have remained patient ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and it appears they have received a couple of inquiries on draft busts Evan Neal and Jalin Hyatt.
On November 3, just one day before the 2025 NFL trade deadline on November 4, veteran NFL insider Josina Anderson reported on a potential Neal suitor.
“One team the Giants had exploratory trade talks on regarding G Evan Neal was the [Las Vegas] Raiders,” Anderson relayed. Although she added that “this occurred about one and a half, to two weeks ago, per league source.”
“Evidently, it didn’t lead to urgent action, at said time,” Anderson continued. “Nonetheless, it’s insight on who’s been inquiring….”
Similarly, ESPN NYG beat reporter Jordan Raanan confirmed that “the Giants have talked to teams in recent weeks about OL Evan Neal and WR Jalin Hyatt being available, per sources,” on November 3.
Following up on this Giants trade rumor, New York Post insider Ryan Dunleavy reported that he “heard some buzz around stadium yesterday that [the San Francisco] Niners could be one of those teams interested in offering a change of scenery to a Giants draft bust,” meaning Hyatt.
While no deals have been announced at this time, it’s good to see that there are at least trade suitors emerging for Neal and Hyatt. Neither former draft pick seems to have much of a future in New York, and the Giants should take any offer they can get for the failed prospects at 2-7.
What Might Giants Get Back for Evan Neal or Jalin Hyatt at the NFL Trade Deadline?

GettyWill the New York Giants deal first-round offensive lineman Evan Neal at the 2025 NFL trade deadline?
To be clear, if the Giants were to trade Neal or Hyatt, the return would probably be minor, at best. Considering both draft busts are very clearly on the outs with Big Blue, getting anything back for them is a tough sell.
Having said that, the Giants might be able to convince a team to do a late-round pick swap, where NYG flips a seventh-rounder and Neal for a sixth-round pick.
A conditional late-round pick could also make sense for a player like Hyatt, who still has one year left of team control on his rookie contract in 2026.
Neal is an impending free agent, so that should factor into his potential trade return.
Why Would a Team Want to Trade for Neal or Hyatt?
You might be asking yourself, why would anyone trade for Neal or Hyatt? Neither has shown much at the NFL level, and they’ll both likely be available soon.
Neal will be a free agent this offseason, as mentioned above, and Hyatt could be cut in 2026. If not, he’d hit free agency in 2027, one year after Neal.
So, why would a team sacrifice draft capital for either failed prospect?
The answer is the same reason NFL teams always do. Neal was a former first-round talent, and the Giants never gave him a real chance at his natural position (left tackle) with Andrew Thomas on the roster.
Perhaps a coaching staff feels they can unlock Neal’s true potential.
Similarly, Hyatt is a former Biletnikoff Award winner who displayed a high ceiling at the collegiate level. It’s certainly possible that he could perform better with a fresh start inside a different offensive system, and any 2025 trade suitor would have a season and a half to figure out if Hyatt is a fit.
That makes him slightly more valuable than Neal, who only has the back half of 2025 remaining before he hits the open market.
