The New York Giants signed former Los Angeles Chargers defensive back Myles Purchase.

The New York Giants announced another roster move on November 25, as team reporter Dan Salomone relayed the news ahead of the Week 13 Monday Night Football matchup with the New England Patriots.

“The Giants signed CB Myles Purchase to the practice squad,” Salomone informed on X, as others reacted on social media.

“Giants have signed CB Myles Purchase to the Practice Squad,” the Giants Nation Show podcast commented, adding: “He’s a 2025 [Los Angeles] Chargers UDFA out of Iowa State who was released from the Practice Squad earlier this month.”

Giants Nation Show host Bobby Skinner also shared a video of Purchase’s lone preseason interception, which occurred during the Hall of Fame game.

Purchase is listed at 5-foot-11. He appeared in 52 games for Iowa State from 2021 through 2024, recording 1 interception, 1.0 sack, and 145 total tackles.

Purchase has yet to suit up for a regular season NFL game. However, he appeared in all four Chargers preseason outings, logging 17 total tackles, 1 pass breakup, and the aforementioned interception.

The defensive back also returned 6 kickoffs in college for an average of 17.33 yards per return.

Week 13 News Includes Re-emergence of Former Giants DB Isaiah Simmons

A former Giants defensive back/linebacker was also in the news on November 25, as veteran Isaiah Simmons signed with a new team.

“[The Carolina] Panthers signed veteran linebacker and former Clemson standout Isaiah Simmons,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on X.

This will be Simmons’ second attempt to find a role within a different organization, following his two-year stint with the Giants.

Simmons appeared in three preseason games for the Green Bay Packers this summer, but he failed to do enough to earn a spot on their 53-man roster. He was credited with 21 total tackles.

Now, Simmons will try his luck with the Panthers, who just lost starting safety Tre’von Moehrig to a one-game suspension.

Giants Will Get Front Row Seat for Ideal 2026 Model vs. Patriots

The 2025 Patriots are what the 2026 Giants should aim to be.

After drafting Drake Maye last year, it was clear that New England had something at quarterback. They just had to surround him with better coaches and players, and the Patriots have done that this season, transforming themselves from bottom-feeder into contender.

The same could be said about Jaxson Dart, who has shown major signs that he’s a franchise guy when healthy. However, the Giants haven’t done a good enough job around him.

Considering all the firings on the coaching staff, Big Blue obviously needs to start there. A successful hire, similar to the Pats hiring Mike Vrabel, would go a long way in turning this franchise around with Dart.

From there, the Giants must patch up their roster holes. They do have talent inside the building, but so does every NFL team. The key is shoring up those weaker areas and constructing a roster that all works hand in hand.

With Dart and a new coaching staff leading the way, not to mention a less difficult schedule, it’s conceivable that the Giants can flip this thing in one year. And who better to learn from than New England?

The Patriots have reinvigorated their fanbase and breathed life into their franchise after several down years, following the departure of Tom Brady. If the Giants want to do something similar in 2026, Week 13 is a great place to start.
