The New York Jets have added several players to the 90-man offseason roster.

Gang Green announced on social media that they have signed wide receiver Mac Dalena, placekicker Lenny Krieg, and quarterback Bailey Zappe “to reserve/future contracts.”

Dalena is listed at 5-foot-11 and weighs 180 pounds. He initially joined the league as an undrafted free agent. Dalena didn’t make the initial 53-man roster for the Kansas City Chiefs after spending a few months with the team.

Jets editorial contributor Susanna Weir wrote in a press release that Dalena had a “brief stint” with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in November of this season.

“Dalena was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2024, leading his team with 64 catches for 1,065 yards and 8 TDs,” Weir wrote.

Jets Finalize First QB Move of Offseason

ESPN’s Rich Cimini noted on social media that the first quarterback acquisition of the offseason was signing Bailey Zappe.

Zappe, 26, entered the league as the No. 137 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft.

He has bounced around the league with appearances on the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and the Chiefs.

Scott Mason of “Play Like A  Jet” admitted that he doubts that Zappe will even make the Jets roster. However, he described him as a “potential camp arm and or practice squad candidate” for the team in 2026.

The Jets figure to blow up their quarterback room this offseason. The 2025 season was an unmitigated disaster.

It would be hard for Zappe to be any worse than the quarterback play Jets fans were subjected to this past season.

Jets Add Some Insurance on Special Teams

The green and white boasted one of the best special teams units in the NFL last season. Not a whole lot went right, but that unit certainly did.

The good news is that the majority of the contributors are all under contract next season. One of the lone exceptions is veteran placekicker Nick Folk.

Folk, 41, joined the Jets at the beginning of training camp. He signed a one-year $2.87 million contract. The former Arizona product is currently pondering retirement after completing his 18th season in the NFL.

If Folk decides to hang up his cleats, it won’t be due to a lack of performance. Like a fine wine, Folk continues to get better with age.

He only missed one field goal in 16 games this season. Folk finished with a 96.6% conversion rate this year on his field goal attempts. That is the third straight season that he has finished with a 95% or better conversion rate.

The Jets inked the German-born Krieg to a futures deal. He spent this past season on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad as a member of the NFL’s International Pathway Program.

Before this move by the Jets, Folk was the only placekicker on the roster ahead of free agency.

This is a low-risk move for the green and white. If Folk opts for retirement, the Jets will have another option on the roster. However, if he comes back, the Jets have an extra placekicker on the 90-man roster heading into the offseason activities.
