Fired Jets Coach Sends 2 Word Message, Then Deletes Post

The drama never seems to end with the New York Jets.

Former Jets senior assistant and passing game coordinator Scott Turner took to social media with an interesting response.

KFC Barstool posted on X, “I’m really happy for Sam Darnold. I hate the New York Jets.” Turner responded to that post writing, “Me too.”

It started going viral on social media, and then Turner deleted the response.

NFL Insider Aaron Wilson reported over the weekend that Turner was one of seven assistants that head coach Aaron Glenn fired from his staff.

Turner is still listed on the Jets’ official website at the time of publication.

It Appears to Be Turner’s Official Social Media Account

Turner has just under 10,000 followers on X, previously Twitter. Among them are Jets running back Breece Hall, several members of the beat, including ESPN’s Rich Cimini, and several national media members.

“Early candidate for tweet of the year from Scott Turner, a couple days after being dismissed by the Jets org. Outstanding,” radio host Grant Paulsen responded.

“Scott Turner was bad at his job. He’s now using the jets as an excuse for his failure. I think that’s called pulling a [Robert] Saleh,” a fan responded.

Unprofessional Look for Fired Coach

Turner, 43, is the son of legendary longtime NFL coach Norv Turner, who won two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s.

The veteran coach appears to be an active social media user based on his posts and responses on X.

This is a response that would have been better left in the drafts. Turner ended up being one-and-done with the Jets after being hired the previous offseason.

Turner has been coaching football since 2005. During his 21 years in the business, Turner has held prominent roles at big-time colleges and with NFL programs.

He has six years of experience as an offensive coordinator, with four of those coming at the NFL level.

Jets Are Rebuilding Most of Their Staff, Especially on the Offensive Side of the Ball

Coach Glenn has his work cut out for him.

The Jets’ staff is undergoing massive changes. Quite frankly, the quarterback infrastructure wasn’t good enough in 2025, and Glenn is attempting to fix it.

NFL Insider Connor Hughes of SNY shared that offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand won’t call plays next season. The team fired quarterbacks coach Charles London and Turner, who was serving as a pass game coordinator.

Identifying the problem is the first step. The Jets realized it wasn’t good enough, and they’re attempting to do something about it.

That is a positive sign. However, finding capable replacements will be another challenge altogether.

NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo revealed that Coach Glenn “has spoken to multiple veteran offensive coaches about joining his coaching staff.”

According to Hughes, one of those names that has been discussed is longtime former NFL quarterback and coach Frank Reich.

Reich was teammates with Jets head coach Aaron Glenn in New York back in 1996. During his coaching career, he won a Super Bowl as Philadelphia’s OC in 2017.
