New York Jets rookie offensive tackle Armand Membou had a spectacular debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The former Missouri product was given the unenviable task of trying to block Steelers six-time All-Pro T.J. Watt, and he more than held his own.
We need to talk about Armand Membou here, guys. I mean, seriously. You’re going against a Defensive Player of the Year, one of the best modern edge rushers in NFL history, going into the Hall of Fame, and he shut him down,” beat reporter Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor told me on “Boy Green Daily.”
Armand Membou put T.J. Watt in a blender. That in it of itself should have Jets fans ecstatic … That was a fantastic performance by Membou and the entire offensive line to show that this is sustainable … T.J. Watt having zero sacks, zero pressures, zero quarterback hits, is an insane statistic when you think about his overall career. That was a fantastic, fantastic performance by Membou,” Faria added.
Top Social Media Reactions to Membou’s Sterling Performance
“One of the best rookie debuts this week. A few jump out of your seat moments,” Ted Nguyen of The Athletic said about Membou.
“We didn’t hear Armand Membou’s name much on Sunday — and that’s a good thing. The #Jets’ top-10 pick held his own against TJ Watt, allowing zero pressures on 26 pass-blocking snaps. Impressive poise, athleticism and strength. Between him (21 yrs old) and Olu Fashanu (22), the Jets have a special OT duo for the future,” NFL Insider Jordan Schultz posted on X previously Twitter.
Jets rookie RT Armand Membou pitched a shutout in his NFL debut (26 pass pro snaps):
• 0 sacks
• 0 hurries
• 0 QB hits
• 0 pressures
Good start for the top 10 pick,” NFL analyst Ryan Fowler said on social media.
Jets Offensive Line Pulled off Musical Chairs Beautifully
Just ahead of the season opener, the Jets suffered a devastating injury.
Starting right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker tore his triceps, ending his 2025 season before it ever began.
The Jets were forced to play musical chairs on the offensive line. AVT went out, Joe Tippmann got kicked to right guard, and veteran Josh Myers took over at center.
Despite the last-second nature of the depth chart, the Jets thrived in the trenches. Gang Green only allowed one sack and established a vicious rushing attack that finished with 182 rushing yards.
